Nobody is denying the Duncan did not deserve to start in the All Star game, but it is impossible to blame Popovich for putting his player (Duncan) in over a rival player (Gasol).

Love wouldn't have deserved to start in that game either.

At C: Gasol > Love and it's undisputed.

At F's: Durant > Love, Anthony > Love, and Nowitzki > Love... all undisputed.

Just stressing the point that Duncan pretty much said he didn't deserve to be there....good luck finding ANYBODY to say the same about Love. Love is having a MUCH better year than Duncan...that too is undisputed...

edit: I meant Durant*. Not Duncan.

And Duncan said that he didn't expect to be there. Not that he didn't deserve it. There's a difference...

And if we are just basing this on Duncan's perspective now, let's see if he also expected Love to be there. I don't think anybody thought that Kevin Love was going to be a shoe-in to the All-Star game with all of those spectacular Western Conference forwards.

Why would he say he didn't expect to be there if he deserved it? He has gone every other year he deserved to go....he knows his play has been subpar. And there were better options available...like Kevin Love.

People were already well acknowledging the possibility that Love wouldn't get voted onto the All-Star game before that turned out to be the case. So it's obvious that he's not the caliber of Kobe friggin' Bryant or Kevin Durant.

Maybe we should be talking more about LaMarcus Aldridge and Tony Parker... those guys are both looking to be pretty worthy and are arguably better players than Love. And neither of them were getting any of Love's hype... what's up with that...

Because maybe he didn't know if he would actually get voted on? Maybe it's not the matter of whether he thought he deserved it enough. Maybe it was more of the matter that the margin of error of him getting voted on was much smaller than it was in past years.

Again, if we are just going on Duncan's opinion, wouldn't it be more senseable to find out if he really believes that Love is the better player at this point. It doesn't seem fair to just assume it.

You are changing the subject...Aldridge over Love wouldn't have been as egregious an error, neither would Parker over Love. Love got more hype....because he deserves it. The same reason a lot of players who are having great seasons deserve to be allstars. Neither Aldridge or Parker are having great seasons, and Duncan is having the worst season of his career.

There is nothing to assume. Its not about whether Love is a better player. Duncan himself feels he wouldn't be there because he wasn't having a good year. Love is having a great year...which is what should be acknowledged.

As bad as Duncan's season is by his own standards, it's still a pretty damn good year. He has slowed down a lot and has much more limited movement than before, but it isn't so cut and dry that Kevin Love is a better player than this older, worn-down version of Tim Duncan. The defense and somewhat better offensive game is not something we should just ignore. And also, it is really hard to say that TD absolutely didn't deserve to be an All-Star when he is averaging a solid 14 and 9 and yet is sorely more valuable to his Spurs than Love would be in his place.

Right now, I'm not even arguing anymore that Duncan>Love. All I'm saying is that there is room to say Duncan deserved it at least as much as Love. And more in some ways. But yeah, Love deserved it more in some ways too. No doubt about that.

I'm an ass for disagreeing with you and providing objective statistical evidence to support my statement?

...

Wow.

Would you like us all to just agree with everything you say so we won't be asses?

See what I meant about the whole 'being an ass' thing?

First of all, you're being an ass.

Nope. Wrong. The reason you are an ass is because you were assuming something about me. And you know what they say about people who assume things, don't you?

lol...i actually don't. i think everyone assumes things that are whether true or false. perhaps i was wrong to assume that. if so...alright. i can accept being wrong. wouldn't be the first time, wouldn't be the last time.

look, if you want to call names, that's fine...just know i'm not going to stoop that low. that's bush league.
