Raising Canes?

Was not impressed with the location here that opened across the street from Loyola. Not terrible, just very "meh". I can make better tenders myself and the local grocery store will occasionally blow out their "family size" ten pack for $4.99.

Bone in fried chicken is trash, there I said it

I still like bone in from time to time when done well, but I'm pretty hooked on frying up my own chicken tenders. Takes less time, easier too cook and the wife prefers boneless too.

I've probably eaten three times more boneless tenders in the past decade, than bone in.

Same deal about location depending.

I had the worst chicken at Popeyes in Chicago, but fantastic chicken at Popeyes in New Orleans.

I had great chicken at Harold's on the west side, but terrible chicken at Harold's on the north side.

I always thought Brown's sucked, but Church's usually solid....even though they have most of their locations in some rough parts of the city.
I haven't seen a Church's in awhile, but then again, I'm no longer working in the city.

Growing up in Midlothian, there was a great place called the Firehouse. The fried chicken was amazing.

Agreed on Raising Canes. Wasn't overly impressed. Their sauce also sucked.

Fried chicken can be great. Unfortunately, it usually isn’t. I have never had chain fried chicken that was really good.

Somebody go eat the fake chicken and report how you feel the next day. This is CCS science.

HyVee makes surprisingly good fried chicken. About once a year I get a coupon for a bucket for like 5.99 and I clog my arteries for a few days

There are a few good grocery store fried chicken programs. I was in the grocery biz for a long time. Gold n Plump was really, really good.

Yall like Cluck n Fucks? I mean, Raising Canes? It's my go to spot when I'm craving some chicken and slaw. Hits the spot pretty good.
One was built pretty close to my house, but all my neighbors, except the one who is utterly addicted to fast food, said it sucks.

My work got it once for someones retirement party. I honestly don't remember how it tasted. All I remember is my expectations were low, and weren't exceeded.

It's funny bc even though I'm a fluffier dude, I abhor fast food. Haven't eaten McDonald's since college 17 years ago. But, when I need a fix, it's RCs. Sometimes a certain spot hits you just right. Maybe once every 3 months or so.

Canes is weird. It’s very simple, no thrills. I think the sauce is great but my wife doesn’t like it. The toast is bomb, fries are goood enough. Chicken is what you’d expect. I’d never go out of my way for it but a decent quick, cheap lunch option

I remember as a small child my dad and grandpa going out to pick up KFC many times. I always remember enjoying it. Granted I'm like 4-6 years old at this time and just about any of that stuff is probably really good. But even they said it was good fast food in the 90s. They all started getting Browns chicken in the late 90s, which I also enjoyed at the time. But, I also don't think I've had Browns since the early 00's.

Honestly, I haven't had fried chicken much at all over the last decade. Usually if I have it, its from catering at a party. I just don't seek it out.

kfc changed the way they cook their chicken and gravy. also, seems like the pieces keep get smaller every year.. def overrated chicken

Fast food: Churches. I used to dig Brown's but haven't been in probably 25 years.

Right now I get it from the grocery store, which is Lowe's in my neck of the woods. Very good. Martin's in Indiana is usually very good.

In Chicago, it's really out of the way but MiniHut in Garfield Ridge is really really good. When I was a kid it was actually in a mini-hut right in that weird little area where Archer splits from 55th at Narragansett. now it's in a basement shop at Archer a little west of there around Oak Park Ave.

Pretty much any broasted I've had is consistently solid.

This guy I work with lives in Kenosha. He hosted a Bears/Packers game party years ago that I went to as a punching bag. He got a bunch of fried chicken from the Piggly Wiggly that was impressive for a supermarket.

I know more than one person who swears by grocery store chicken. One guy I met was big on getting it from Walmart. Honestly I just do not like that kind of fried chicken so I never seek it out.

Hit me with that Costco Wonder Roast though any time!

Maggie Raptor won't eat chicken.
She does like hot wing gravysauce though.
