Wasn't about the money for Emery. He wanted a chance to be the #1 goalie. Something the Hawks couldn't offer him.

There's a mass goalie competition there now.... Mason, Emery AND Bryz being resigned for the "cheap" if you call it that after he was bought out. What fun entertainment. :)

What you smoking Wolf or where are you getting your info? Bryz didn't resign with the Flyers. He wouldn't be able to anyways as its against the buy out rules..cant resign with the team that bought you out. Its btw Mason and emery only. I suspect they will split duties. Neither is capable of playing 60+ games as a starter unless Mason becomes the super goalie he was supposed to be.

Bryz is gone. There is no competition. They signed Emery to be their #1 or at least compete with Mason.

Wow didn't see that one coming. Happy enough with it though as he should be a very solid backup and has lots of experience to help Ratta along.

I thought he was hoping for more than 1 year contract with the hawks and when he couldn't get it he figured maybe he could turn a 1 year deal in Philly to a multi-year deal if he had a good season. No chance of that with the goalie pipeline the Hawks have.

This is a great move, The guy still has it, and with Staphane Waite leaving, I see him after this season, being our next goalie coach.

There are plenty of goaltending coaches out there and just because you played goalie doesn't make you the best instructor out there.

Huge difference between teaching and playing.

I think he'll be a great mentor for Raanta for sure. Which I'm sure was on their mind when they signed him.

Thanks for pointing that out Captain obvious. Funny they brought Yannik in to work on Skills, IE Face offs. I know, playing and teaching are two different things.

Obviously they believe he can teach that skill.

If it was so easy, why doesn't a team bring in Wayne Gretzky to teach pin point passing? Why isn't Paul Coffey a power-skating coach?
