It really makes no sense to save a catcher in that situation...especially when there's a better catcher on the bench and there was an off-day the next day anyway. It's kind of like managers keeping their best relievers on the bench in high-leverage situations because it's not the 8th or 9th inning yet. You save them for later, sure, but what if "later" never comes?

You can believe what u want. It's very very rare for it to happen

Like I said u are arguing the wrong thing

No one is arguing that Koyie Hill should be on this team. However, the fact was that he was on that team at the time of that decision. As you just said its very rare to happen, but it does happen. And given the situation it made sense to do it. You had a terrible hitter with one out with a tough reliever on the mound. The other catcher would have to played most likely only two innings. It isn't unreasonable for Quade to pinch hit, and in fact Quade never used that his rationale for the decision. His decision was based solely on the fact that he thought Hill had the best chance to make contact in that situation.

That is what Quade said after the game. He thought Hill had the best chance of contact because he only had right handers on the bench with Montanez, Lamahieu, and Soto and Crain is really tough on right handers.
