It is a good sign on a couple of levels. Aside from the obvious, the Bears really need to start re-signing their high draft picks. Not only does that mean you are hitting on your picks but it lends credibility from player's point of view.

Can't go wrong with re-signing Long. There's really no downside. He's pretty much the face of the franchise.

He was previously signed through this season (2016) and next season (2017). I assume this cancels out that contract, and now he's signed through 2016, 2017, 2018, & 2019 (not 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, & 2021)
