Care to explain then why tyrique stevenson has a much better one yet he sucks?

I still like the deal because of what kyler does well, but there is a lot left to be desired in pass coverage for him.

Apples, Oranges.

Slot might be harder in some ways. You can't use the boundary as an extra defender, and typically don't have much help over the top. And like someone else was saying they're watching all the guys in motion, and trying to navigate through all of the traffic.

I just think it is far more likely to look to the draft for an outside corner to keep the costs across the position group lower. Even if he plays well, and earns an extension, I am not sure it makes fiscal sense.

I could be wrong here; it's just my impression of salary cap management.
For salary cap issues... it's a team issue, not a Secondary issue.

If they all play well, Stephenson can get an extension, Bears would just have to have rookies at other positions.

For sure. Can't disagree with that.

But when it comes to retaining your star players, over investing on one position group (which has at least 5 guys rostered) can lead to problems of affording the other players you want to retain. Holding onto three expensive CBs means you might not be able to retain a second WR your offense works through, or a second high performing lineman on either side. It's best, in my view, to spread the long term obligations out so you have important pieces all over the team retained.

This is all hypothetical of course, since we don't know if Stevenson is the guy for the job or how much he costs.

Just like the JJ deal, this is going to look like a bargain in a year or two.

That said, now the winning has to start.

Losing teams can’t keep handing out big-time extensions. You quickly get into Ryan Pace territory.

So then explain JJ having a worse passer rating against and completion percentage than tyrique? They both play outside.

I thought tyrique is hot trash according to CCS

85.7 vs 83.2 is not a significant difference and JJ played the No 1 WR more and with less help.

Do you think Stevenson is better than JJ?
