Wentz looked rookie good. A few decent games to start it off, then teams had tape and he looked like nothing to brag about. Not sure either QB Wentz or Goff are starting material. Either way it's way too early to proclaim either way. PS. Prescott is not starting material, he cant win games. He had a good rookie year with no focus on him by defenses but he will lose the starting job by years end.

The biggest mistake the Rams made was believing Case Keenum would be a quality stop gap.

Are you trying to rewrite history with the benefit of hindsight? Goff was considered by many of the so called experts to be there most pro ready. Wentz in comparison was the better projected guy with the higher ceiling. Goff was supposed to come in and start day one.

I think Wentz is a bit over-hyped. He started well and certainly showed flashes but he's being talked about, amongst the media, like he's already the man when he had some serious struggles.

He certainly has potential but, by the same token, so does Goff. Obviously Goff didn't look very good but he was thrown into a terrible situation with minimal reps. Maybe he will regret passing on Wentz but I don't think you can make that call at this point.

Echoing that terrible situation, they have been horrible at finding quality OL despite spending a lot of capital on the position. Their QBs have been taking a beating because a guy like Greg Robinson has been a fantastic bust. Dude couldn't move his feet to pass block but looked good in college pushing around 240-pound DEs...

Couple things I took from Les Sneed... First off, notice how he says "I wonder if it's THE QB" after mentioning Trubisky. Makes me think he indeed was the unanimous #1 QB.

He says "Man they kept it quiet, Ryan (couldn't make out the last name but not Pace) told me he didn't think they were taking him". Pace really kept this tight lipped.

At the end Sneed says to McVey "I really love OL, but at some point we need guys that can..." and pauses. Presumably meaning guys that can make plays. Then they go and take Everrett and Krupp with their first two picks.

This confirms to me that not every team and GM goes BPA and some teams do in fact draft need based.

Interesting video though thanks for sharing.

It definitely looks like Trubisky was the consensus top QB, with both Sneed and Marathe of San Fran specifically questioning whether it was for Trubisky.

More interesting is this tidbit on Adam Shaheen and being drafted in the second round.

The problem with Goff is not that he looked bad, it's that he looked EPICALLY bad. So bad, in fact, that some experts have said that he should not even be given another opportunity to start.

And yes, Wentz is definitely over-hyped.

Yet he passed on Shaheen for another TE in the 2nd round.

Yeah...but we know Goff can make throws. The speed of the game, the windows, the complete shit show around him, lack of running game, lack of team confidence, lack of weapons...

he absolutely should be given a chance to start and if he fails again I think another organization should snatch him up quick and figure out what is missing. There was a time when rookie QB's were not expected to be good. Some guys take a few years just to adjust to the concepts and speed.

Clean up the pocket, get him some big fast weapons, reestablish the running game, and show me a competent offensive system and then lets judge the guy at a time when he doesn't have the rookie excuse either. I take nothing from last season in regards to him.

You make it sound like all he needs is a better supporting cast when he showed that he could not even do the basics at the QB position. He looked horrifyingly unprepared.

In Goff's defense, the Rams O-line has been crap for years.

Did you pay attention to the number of times he was being pounded into the ground? Sure there were some bad passes but that video just proves how fucking horrible his protection really was.

The Rams were a mess last year and a lot of the mess was Jeff Fisher. TO me, though, the Rams owner really approaches football as just a part of the entertainment scene of LA not as a live or die enterprise. Fisher and company were simply stop-gap bodies intended to baby sit the team while the owner concentrated on more important stuff as in building his entertainment enterprise.

The team, though, that will end up taking it in the shorts though is the Chargers who will be the poor soul of the city. Sort of like the LA Clippers being the poor soul to the Lakers.
