Just curious as to why you think Maddux would make a great pitching coach?

I think he will be the next pitching coach. With the PR dept going in wrong directions, this will happen specifically for a PR move.

I really, really, really, really would love that. However, I think it is a long shot.

One of the best pitchers of all time, knows how to break down video, is a great teacher, etc.

well joehawks we are assuming he would be a great pitching coach, not all great players can be coaches and have that ability. so it is just a guess. he may be one of those guys who can be the best student of the game, and the stuff that he knows may not be comfortable for another player, hence mechanics etc.

those socks were pretty weird lookin haha and Maddux doesn't want to be the pitching coach he wants time for family and being a full time pitcing coach for the ML team wouldn't give him that time.

One of the smartest pitchers ever. No one has a better understanding of the game than Greg Maddux, and I think our pitchers would really benefit from his tutelage.

Indeed he is. Anyone watch "Undercover Boss" when they were with the Cubs. This owner took away a trailer that had heat and air conditioning for the parking attendants because it wasn't in the budget anymore. What kind of scumbag does that?

Money had nothing to do with it. Rothschild requested that he be allowed to join another team that had ST in Florida so he could be with his family more (they live in TB). Plus, they play the Rays a lot, so it's a bonus I guess. Hendry granted his request because of what he had already done for the organization.

Certainly could be. But it's hard to argue with the trailer thing... that says "cheap" written all over it. Add to the fact that Cubs only signed Quade .. that's not exactly a hire that strikes fear in the hearts of other teams.

That could also mean uninformed to normal everyday game practices.. You know.. since they were at their first season.. Also could be a bad cost-cutting measure because of not knowing..

I don't think any manager strikes fear into another opponent.. Kindof.. not really the point.
