Wow that is sad news. I have moved out of the chicago suburbs for quite a few years now but q101 was definitely my station of choice back in the late 90s with my first car.

Quite a bit, especially since "alternative" came to mean "skinny emo guys who've learned two chords on the guitar".

I can't say that I am sad about this. The station has gone down the shitter. When one of your top played songs is from Shinedown, you have a problem. Sherman and Tingle are the best DJs on there now, but, I believe, the station went down hill after they let the Manno brothers go. Now, instead of giving us new and interesting music(because that is the purpose of radio), they give us a re-hash of the Billboards top "rock songs."

I listen to Q101, 97.9 the loop, and 95.1 wiil rock. I really like 95.1, but the signla is pretty bad.

I was never a big fan of Q101, but its a shame that there aren't more Chicago FM stations playing rock music. Half of my stations are horrendous Mexican dance/accordian music, and then you have these pre-programmed stations like Jack FM and K-Hits that just play the music from Time/Life Record collections.

Jack FM has been gone several months too for another top hits pop type of station.

Q101 has been awful for years and just played the same songs over and over and despite DJ & listener complaints, they always remained in their little list of having to play the same greenday, nirvana, pearl jam, rhcp songs to death every hour.

Funny I heard them a few times this week, and they're playing good music they've never played before now that they're done for, kinda a joke. I only care about Loveline anyway, but it can just download that anyway.

It's really not that much. I've made a couple long drives this summer and it's a lot better than trying to find some local station. Also, a lot better than the girlfriends IPod.
