I'm pretty sure this is how a one-on-one game between James and Rose would go:

Everytime Rose has the ball, he goes right by James and either gets (a) a lay-up/dunk, (b) hacked, or (c) blocked.

Everytime James has the ball, he (a) pretty easily gets by Rose, (b) goes right over the top of Rose on dunks on him, or (c) backs Rose down and scores on him pretty easily.

Either way, LeBron would beat Rose in a landslide.

Derrick Rose is who he is. He's not Jordan clutch but he is clutch (if we are going to keep holding everybody to Jordan's standard than Kobe, nor Wade, is clutch either). It is impossible for one man to shut down a player like Rose or LeBron. The NBA stars are just too good offensively to be stopped by one-on-one defense. In a game of one-on-one between LeBron and Rose, both players would be shooting well over 50% from the field.

Kobe and Wade have put on Jordanesque performances though. Wade in 2006 and Kobe for most of his career. Rose has yet to do that.

That said what you are saying is a hypothetical...what I am saying...happened. When Lebron guarded Rose, he ethered Rose. WHEN is the optimum word. Lebron saved his energy for the fourth quarter and handled business. Now someone on here said that Rose choked...

That is a big part of it, but Lebron did some trash talking and intimidating himself. But I don't remember certain posters ridiculing Rose for choking, I remember them blaming referees. It was lame then and its lame now. That said, the videos prove what is stated. NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES...if Lebron is able to contain Rose, within the defensive scheme of the Miami Heat, to 6.3% from the field over the two games and 15 shots, he ethered him...period. That is what Scottie Pippen was raving about.

It's better that than to keep putting up this false notion that lebron completely shut Rose down all by himself and that Miami wasn't trapping him or sending everyone at him.

No one said anything about the refs. Let it go. lebron defended Rose well for a few stretches in the series. he didn't guard him the whole time and he didn't just shut him down like many would have you believe. lebron had help.

Where did you get that from? Nobody has EVER said he guarded those players the whole time. Its like what I said about Lebron guarding Howard, then the asinine statement was made that Lebron would be crying for help if he guarded Howard, though he is the same size as Howard...Lebron ethered Rose by defending him and outplaying him...period. And yes, some of you did blame the refs while it was happening. And while you were doing that, your hero Mr. Pippen was giving Lebron a standing ovation.

Like have LeBron James guard Derrick Rose with the game on the line. And according to ESPN’s stats and information, it worked really well.
After going 0-for-5 from the floor with a turnover when guarded by LeBron James in Game 4, Derrick Rose struggled against him once again Thursday, going 1-for-10 with two turnovers in Game 5. Rose shot 6.3 percent from the floor in the series when defended by James, lowest among any player that defended him on five or more plays.

Who is MVP? LeBron shut down Rose during series | ProBasketballTalk

And how do you think it felt arguing with some dude in California who said Rose should mail the trophy back to Lebron James? Joe Cowley here in Chicago saying the same thing? They were wrong of course, but Rose's subpar performance fueled their fire.

I feel like there's a way bigger deal being made out of this than there should be. The 6'8 260lb player who's touted constantly as the most athletic player ever for his size and also as one of the leagues top defenders should be able to cause a 6'4 190lb guard issues, regardless of who that guard is.

People take too much pride in individual players in Chicago. It's the Michael Jordan Effect. Derrick Rose is not the best player on the planet and he isn't exactly close to that unless you think that being a top 10 player automatically makes you that. Was Isiah Thomas the best player on the planet the best player on the planet when his Pistons won two straight championships? No. Did he have a cast of all-stars as his teammates? Not exactly. The Bulls are perennial title contenders and this is what we've been waiting for. The Bulls, as a team, needs to come up big vs. MIA and OKC/SAS/LAL/DAL/MEM and then we should be satisfied.

Any idiot who thinks that the team we've seen plus Chris Paul, for instance, wouldn't be title contenders is more of a Derrick Rose fan than a Bulls' fan; You'd need to be to say something that idiotic.

He had a better supporting cast than Rose does....you are probably too young to remember that team...but that was a great team.

He had 2 hall of famers on that team, and a couple of big men that are better than Noah.

It's undeniable that the talent Thomas had was better than the talent Rose has now but it is still halfway comparable. And also the league the 80's-90's Pistons played in had more dominant teams at the top than this year's era.

I would agree...and yes, there were better teams. I don't think there were better players necessarily, but I do believe there were better teams.

Yes he did. But DRose was double teamed. It wasn't Lebron on his own. And it was also DRose who choke and made the one bad decision after another in the last minutes. He missed a free throw to tie the game too with 30 seconds remaining.

This year Rose started with 34 points against the Heat. He seems more ready.

right but lebron's individual defense had alot to do with rose's falterings

Agreed. Rose was smh mentally killed when LeBron guarded him. I don't know about thrash talking hou said before. But Rose acted like a kid playing with adults in the last minutes. That's why he got destroyed so hard.
