Seems to me you can flip this in favor of whichever way you want to

-You can say LeBron is leaving with the news of this because he would have just announced he was staying before camp and wouldn't have wasted all of our time.

-On the flip side, you can also say LeBron is staying because why would he have a special on ESPN to announce that he was leaving? He would rip the hearts out on live TV off all your local fans right there and then.

-In the end, its likely just one major marketing ploy which will promote his line from Nike.

-This event will probably feature 45 minutes of highlights of his career, and what he would look like on all the potential teams. He'll then speak on Cleveland and get all teary and cry and say how much he loves the city and then at the end he'll make his decision and he'll say either "I'm staying in Cleveland" or "I'm going to _____."

I mean right now until the actual event, it really comes down to personal opinion of how you read into the announcement of this event. Some strongly believe this is an indication he's staying because he couldnt do this to Ohio on National TV...others think he's leaving because he would have already announced he's leaving.
