The band really never liked the “heavy metal” name because they considered themselves to me more than just one type of music. Zeppelin influenced more than just glam rock.

I agree they influenced more than just glam rock...I'm just saying if you are going to point to some immediate genre of music that 'copied' Zeppelin, I wouldn't have pointed toward 'heavy metal'.

Black Sabbath did give them a compliment for influencing them though and they were the band to start the true heavy metal genre....IMO

No excuse, there WERE better choices.

What? When you're 9 years old you get a pass on what you think is awesome, pizza is better than steak, Thundercats are better than the Godfather, baseball is better than chicks.

The first I ever heard of Kiss is when they were playing a concert in my high school gym, but I was 17 and into Zeppelin so I took a pass.

LMFAO.....It is what it is......Zeppelin became my favorite band and I haven’t looked back. The closest(?) I got to see them was in 2007 at the O2 in London. Got to see Kiss in 2010.

The mighty Zep, greatest of all rock bands, has been my favorite for 40 years. Sadly, never saw them play live.

And I’m not buying into Greta Van Fleet being the second coming of LZ, not by a long shot.

I remember Oasis is the next Beatles, I like Oasis (gonna take some heat for that one) but nobody is the next anything, if they are any good, they are their own thing.

When I see a pathetic attempt to to rip off an old band like those grave robbers Tedeschi Trucks Band it makes me sick.

I did hear a decent Greta song while I was working in Cincinnati. Safari I think it was. Wasn’t too bad, did not sound like Zeppelin to me

There is no doubt GVF is trying to go for a Zep sound, the vocals and drum fills, everything. If they ever want to be considered great they are going to have to do something to set themselves apart from being a sound alike band.

Led Zeppelin was pretty good but I like Death Grips better.

Meanwhile Jimmy Paige shits on a gold toilet, and Blind Willie Johnson dies in a gutter.

Led Zeppelin took “some liberties, I must say,” Page admitted. “As far as my end of it goes, I always tried to bring something fresh to anything that I used,” he claimed. He put the blame on Plant: “Robert was supposed to change the lyrics, and he didn’t always do that, which is what brought on most of the grief.”

I think Page is a very talented guitarist, but not much of a songwriter and his band deserved a better frontman than Robert Plant.

Upon a recount...I have us meeting in the middle at 21. Two of the ones I counted were off the BBC Sessions and not a proper album release.

Heck....Willie Dixon was responsible for about half of their debut album.

Actually 2 songs duly credited to him and Zep did them quite well. Jeff Beck also covered You Shook Me on his album released before Zep 1
