WSCR/670 The Score host for decades. I used to listen to him when I worked retail and would be driving home late at night.

He was late night comfort food. Every show a trip down memory lane. He would start a story and it would be told with the same color whether it's from 1967 or 2021.

Jon Greenberg's Ode to Les from several years ago ( Need The Athletic): Late Nights with Les Grobstein are a treasure and will never, ever suck

RIP Grobber

Guy took a lot of ribbing from his mates and kept it funny. Seemed a great guy.

Sad, was my first radio call in as a teenager.

I felt bad for him at times. He def rambles on a LOT, but his mind was an encyclopedia.

Dude had a lot of fuckin patience to deal with the drunkos every night for as long as he did.

They setup a GoFundMe for his funeral. I don't know the story behind it, but that doesn't seem to be a strong endorsement for his comp/benefit package from the Score.

He was a Chicago radio legend. Used to turn the radio on late at night in college working on papers and when I couldn't sleep and there was Les.

Got to meet him a few times and he was one of the nicest guys I've met. A normal conversation would turn into a 30 minute convo on a random former Chicago Bear player or another Chicago icon.

I live in the Minneapolis area and have no Chicago allegiances other than enjoying the North Stars/ Hawks, Vikings/Bears, Twins/Sox rivalries over the years.

I stumbled on Les' show years ago scanning the AM dial at night when I couldn't sleep. I grew to really enjoy listening to him and the overwrought, die hard Chicago sports fans that called in. I'd chuckle to myself since he always seemed to be able to bring the conversation around to the '85 Bears.

You could tell he really enjoyed what he did, it seemed like he never took vacation days away from his show. When he unexpectedly missed several nights in a row last week I grew concerned and feared the worst.

RIP Les, you'll be missed
