Cubs have been rumored in recent days to be looking for a bat to go with Lester. Cespedes is really the only guy that comes to mind considering what's on the market right now.

I could see why some would think he's overrated, but you also have to consider that 100 RBI men don't grow on trees, especially in the post-steroid era. He reminds me of Jose Guillen, though with better intangibles. Beane definitely outsmarted himself when he moved Cespedes in the Lester deal. Really, it could prove to have been a bad trade for both teams.

Perhaps we could dangle Travis Wood and a couple of mid-level prospects. Not sure what Boston expects to receive for an outfielder with an OBP barely over .300 with just one year left on his deal...

I'd rather focus on getting Shields to form one of the best 1-2-3 combos in baseball.

Or trade for a SP that is younger and better. Not that I wouldn't like Shields but I don't see him coming cheap and he looks as he is already regressing. I wouldn't want him on anything more than a 4 year deal

So should they put him in RF to steal ABs from Soler, or LF to steal ABs from Bryant?

Sorry Dews. Gotta disagree here. I want no part of him. Talent is there, but I feel they would be taking a step backwards. The Justin Upton rumor is interesting however, and if I had to trade for someone, I might be more inclined to get a left handed bat like Jay Bruce or something as the reds might want to dump some salary in order to save some money for pitching from their team. Maybe the Cubs could do a prospect package, or trade Baez to them?

However they choose to, I am leaving this in the FO's hands. The first real year that they have made moves, and I have a hard time arguing much, if anything that they have done wrong.

Pass, I'm just not all that high on Cespedes, especially for what the Sox are gonna want for him.

I would agree with that. Bruce would be worth trading for. Never would happen in division and all but he is they type wanted in LF.

A's made a big financial commitment to get him, and didn't want him.

Red Sox gave up Jon Lester to get him, and don't want him.

they have too many outfielders for one and they want the nice haul. red sox asking a ton for him. beane had no choice to move him. he needed the pitching
