In the immortal words of Sam McCloud, "There you go."
I edited my post to ask if those have a volume limiter. I looked at the specs and couldn't tell.

No, I don't think so. They have their own rotary volume control on them. Kind of a similar thing as nvan linked, except built into the phones themselves.

*Edit - I'm still on an iPhone 6, but can you not turn off the volume limiter on an iPhone anymore? Settings> Music>Volume Limit?

Mine is already turned off. I have found that most headphone manufacturers are now limiting the maximum volume to minimize the risk of lawsuits for causing hearing loss. I also heard there was some type of law limiting volume and that is why I can't seem to get the Sonic Max app even though I can't find any proof of that.

I've heard of volume limiting headphones, and cords, but I don't think it is a standard outside of the EU, which passed a law in 2013 to limit output to 85dB (but can be overridden to 100dB).

Well then why the hell can't I seem to download this:

Grrrrrrrr......Starting to drive me nuts. It is all over the internet yet you can't download it. Makes no sense. And it seems most headphones for hearing impaired are the bone type which I really do not want.

I can't help you there. I have never downloaded an app for my iPhone, or used the apple store in any way.

I did read that that app has not been updated since 2015, and can be buggy. I don't think it is because of any laws that you are having trouble getting it.

Little off topic here but I am looking for a set of headphones that take my hearing loss into consideration. Every app that supposedly boosts the volume of your Iphone is no longer available in the US market and all of the headphones now have a max volume setting designed to make sure they do not adversely affect someones hearing. That leaves folks like me that enjoy their music fairly loud out in the cold. Imagine having to use your headphones at low volume and how unsatisfying that is.

Anyone have any suggestions it would be appreciated. Looking for over the ear. Not interested in the bone headphones as they don't stop outside noise.
I was actually going to bring this up that I am looking for a reasonable priced replacement for my Bose that are falling apart.

Mainly for gaming and music on the computer. I am not an audiophile so functional and durable mean more to me.

Just reasonable priced decent set. No microphone or any of that nonsense.

Any suggestions?

Ok reading further I have a question...

Have you thought about going fully retro?

Now that you know you can convert your charging hole to a corded plug in for headphones maybe an old pair would do you just fine?! Just a thought.

Sony MDR-7506 Longtime Gold standard in budget to mid range headphones. Will please most people. Until you get into better amps/dacs, you wont get much better without training your ear. They are cheap because the hangs are cheap and the padding is made from low-end foam.
Once you train your ears to hear certain details and sounds, beware, things get expensive and complicated fast if you want to experience broader ranges than common BestBuy stocked headphones. If not expensive, you need to follow trends closely, see what new player is releasing quality to start, before getting a rep and dropping to lower cost parts.

If you want to go off the beaten path, there are so many good cans in all ranges now. In the last few years, companies have been competitive like never before.

Find something that interests you, then see if Zeos has something to say about it on his YT chan. This guy is not a harsh critic, so be warned that he will praise anything if he can find the right reasons to like something. However, he does know his shit, and should help you get a better idea. He will even praise some aspects of Beats and Sennys to avoid heavy fanboy fights in his comments, so yes, you gotta 'read between the lines' a bit and not just hear what you want to hear. https://www.youtube.com/user/ZeosReviews/videos

Yes, I have built my own headphones. A few frankies in the rotation, but mostly just buy finished products now. I don't believe I have ever suggested anyone build their own cans, but in all fairness, when I first admitted to building my own, the whole headphone scene was stuck in the 90's a bit. That was... 7 years ago, maybe, I don't remember exactly when. With the 3.5mm headphone in phone debate continuing, a lot of development in the sub-$500 , sub-$200, sub-$100, and sub-$100 have made quality built A-B bin components accessible to the budget range for the first time ever. So this is a really great time for someone in your exact position to step their game up.

I was just making a joke. No offense intended.

The AKG K series are pretty decent low (k 52, 72, and 92) and mid range (K361, K371) phones.

The headphone market has definitely changed for the better lately.

<--- $10 Skull Candy earbuds from Target.

My tinnitus riddled hearing doesn't deserve more than that.

I am in the same boat.
Surround sound is completely lost on me due to a lifetime of loud noise and ear infections from being in the water all summer.

I'm a Sennheiser guy myself.

Same. I got the HD 650. Hooked them up to a Bottlehead Crack amp and a DAC and the sound is superb. I'm also looking at adding the Beyerdynamic DT-1990s, but the Senns are fairly new and I'm trying not to continue into the rabbit hole.
