Does Maurice White count???

Not sure if he ever did both simultaneously, but he was a hell of a drummer that became an even better songwriter.

If he don't play and sing at the same time I don't think it counts. Otherwise Prince wins this thing no contest.

Fair enough.

You beat me to the punch with the Louis Cole shoutout anyhow. Dude is so bananas, I have oatmeal while listening.

A far, far cry from Levon.

Levon is, by far, my personal favorite but Collins was awfully good, a ton of hits, and was excellent as a drummer before he started leading singing. Levon was one of three lead singers and part of a hugely influential band. So apples and oranges but Levon, if the the best is among them. I’m guessing everyone has watched The Last Waltz but, if not, it is a worthwhile endeavor.
