The hell does the #1 pick have to do with anything I’ve said? What does Donald have to do with anyone taken before him? He was drafted where he was drafted and it was consensus on here he would be a stud. If we had better draft position, would have been ours. Stuff like this happens every year with every team based on their draft slot.
Draft position matters, but it isn’t 100%.

Well, you were making the point that Aaron Donald went 12, not 13, so obviously draft slots mattered. But you ignored 1 thru 11 in doing so.
Never mind. I am not going to go back and forth on it. The simple point was that the players don't go in order of best to worst, and players going lower can have more impact than a guy ahead of them.
You are making the point that draft slot is everything by pointing to the #12 as being the best in the class. That makes my point.

Do teams want higher picks? Of course.
But my point that draftting a few slots higher doesn't guarantee you get he better player is a valid one, as your example confirmed.
