Yeah, I think this is more likely as it I don't see how you can actually de-materialize yourself and then be yourself on the other side, it would almost be like you were a copy of your former self. Like you die, but a new you is created on the other side with all your memories and experiences.

Why can't we just have individual pods that fucking shoot us all over the world in a split second? Why do we have to de-materialize our atoms?

Like a gigantic water balloon launcher type of thing?

Well it's kinda what teleportation would be. de-materialization then re-materialization on the far end.

I'm imagining something similar to this.

But how do you know what it would be since we don't know how to do it?

I'm just speculating based on the technical definition for teleportation which is:

Teleportation, or Teletransportation, is the theoretical transfer of matter or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them. It is a common subject of matter in the cognition science fiction literature, film, video games, and television.

Well we die and are reborn all the time because our cells are continually dying and being replicated. Aging is simply the imperfect replication of our cells. In keeping with the law of conservation, matter and energy can be neither created or destroyed, just transformed. And we are just biological code. The issue is that biological code degrades over time and we don't currently possess a means to perfectly replicate that code. If we did via a teleportation device and the output was the same as the input then that would for all intents and purposes be the same entity. The only issue would be if our consciousness is in some way a issue of the sum of the parts being greater than the whole.

Agreed, if a soul does exist a teleporter would most likely prove it. Funny how a discussion of a plane turned into teleportation. We have trouble staying on topic here.

Actually supersonic transportation aircraft are definitely coming back in the next decade or so, probably for smaller business jets first and maybe then commercial airlines. The technology for making sonic booms quieter or nonexistent exists. But the amount of capital and time it takes to certify, bring to market and produce something like that is pretty hefty.

This looks like something that is exclusively for the 1%.

I mean teleportation is kinda like the path to immortality. The only reason they didn't do that in Star Trek was because they made up some fluff that your patterns degraded after so long in the so called "Pattern Buffer".
This actually happens and can be easily tested by any copier you have access to.

Funny, copier was exactly what I was thinking of when I came up with that.
