Long Term Positives from today

Much of this improvement and/or flashes of promise is due to the coaching staff..

should the Bears continue to play well...I have a feeling Fangio and/or Gase might be offered some interviews...

Fangio and the McDonald mess didn't help his case for HC..but you can't deny his ability to coach his players well week in and week out...

and if Cutty can turn the INT percentage down and we stay commited to the run game..Gase has to be on the top of the next to be HC list..

Leno most likely can't play RT, some players can't make the transition. I let looks like night and day at LT vs RT for him.

I'm very worried about losing Gase and Fangio. We probably won't lose both but I'd hate to lose either of them as the team is just starting to gel and they haven't even been given the best weapons yet.

I can't wait to see this coaching staff leading a team that has Montgomery, Jeffrey, and White back with additional help from another offseason of drafts and FA acquisitions.

Though Kyle Long may be the best LT on the team, I wouldn't be opposed to having Leno stay at LT next season if he continues to perform and keeping Long at RT. I wouldn't want to create a hole on the Oline in the RT position.

which feasible scenario sees coordinators fleeing the team after a year anyway? has that ever even happened? wouldn't you, as a coordinator, want to build up your team first so you're ranked higher within the league before considering a head coaching position?

The Bears have thrown 173 passes to approx 143 rushes (17 by Bears QB). Green Bay has thrown 162 passes to 151 rushes (27 by Rodgers). So it's not like the Bears are playing ground and pound ball on offense.

What they are doing is being less predictable than they were under Mark Dumpsterfire Trestman. They not only run the ball more than enough to keep the other team honest but they are not forgetting about the run for long stretches of time. That was a killer with Trestman in charge. That fool would call so many passes in a row it was almost shocking when a run actually got dialed up at times.

The Bears would probably call for more runs but their O-line is struggling right now with performance and a lot of injuries across the entire line. It would also help if Forte wasn't so awful in 3rd and short situations but Forte is pretty good otherwise so that is what it is and the aforementioned O-line does more to hinder short yardage runs than they do help them.

The coaching is clearly an improvement. Things are looking better than a lot of people thought. So it looks like they might not be drafting early enough to grab a QB or LT.

Not to mention we were without essentially our top 3 Wr's if you count White being out. I hate being too optimistic but there are some things to build off of here. Clearly this coaching staff has had an impact. Long has made several comments about playing for each other and never quitting, something he says was clearly lacking last year.

Also nice to see a steady improvment. I still don't see this team making the playoffs but it is nice not being embarassed. If Cutler plays the Seattle game, do we win it maybe not but we sure as hell don't lose 26-0.

The Bears have been passing alot because in 4 of our 5 games we trailed by at least 2 touchdowns. All 5 games we were losing well into the fourth.

Coaching staff is light years better than the dumpster fire that was here a year ago. They are doing more with less talent on both sides of the ball and that is typically a credit to coaching, scheme and game plan.

Mcphee is a beast and is going to be a key cog in the defence for many years.

Goldman looks like a legitimate NT that should have a large role in the rotation for the next couple years.

Adrian Amos may finally give the Bears a formidable safety.

Long CAN play tackle and should continue to play out on the edge.

Those are so far, the LONG term positives from this team.

For those worried about losing Gase/Fangio, I would personally be more worried about losing Gase. Ed Donatell has experience as a DC and has been working with Fangio as the defensive backs coach for the 5 seasons. Fox and Donatell could step up and maintain that 3-4 defence I believe. Gase on the other hand so far looks like one of the only OC's who has found a way to work with Jay and has done so without Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal at times. That's huge.

Didn't he lose contain that allowed the first TD? Totally asinine play, he opened up the left quarter of the field with no help to try to make a play that he couldn't make anyway.

If that wasn't him it was because I was screaming at the TV and mixed the name.

Total learning play for team to watch again and again. Fangio will be on top of it and use it for all. Discipline and don't lose contain; slide for help. So clear and an semi-easy fix.

As stated above, if nothing else this shows how much of a disaster Trestman and his staff were. No leadership, no locker room presence, just nothing. Even in the games we've lost there hasn't been any quit whatsoever which is a nice change. You can tell these guys are playing hard and for each other, the exact opposite of last year.

Leno is still a huge question mark. Grasu is still a question mark. The Right Guards are way below average. The draft next year should focus on drafting the best offensive tackle on the board when we draft and then drafting a guard in the 3rd or 4th round.
