“Mike participated in the last 24 games of the season as a point guard and averaged 30.4 points, 10.7 assists, 9.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. This player also scored 12 triple-doubles. To be more precise, Jordan has scored twice in the last 11 matches.
While these stats are impressive, NBA fans barely recall Jordan’s journey at point guard.”
Doug Collins tried it out of desperation when Vincent got in a rough stretch.
At one point he had 10 triple doubles as a point guard in a stretch of 11 games.
Let’s be real though. John Paxon more so a true PG, but Craig Hodges and Steve Kerr were 3-point shooting specialists and Jordan ran the offense through himself. Dictated tempo. Isolated plays late into shot clock before distributing. Held the ball for last shots at the top of the key. Brought the ball up the floor. Etc.
Call him what you want, but for me he always played point, not just the 24 games he was designated point guard.
