The more I think about this the more it pisses me off... 45 MINUTES OF HARD PRACTICE? that's fucking ridiculous... These are professional fucking atheletes that have played like shit and they run them head to head and hard for 45 FUCKING MINUTES! NO WONDER THIS TEAM CAN'T FUCKING PLAY 60 GOD DAMN FUCKING MINUTES IN A GAME WHEN THEY ONLY HAVE TO DO 45 IN PRACTICE. SUCK MY BALLS IF THIS IS HOW YOU ARE HARD ON THEM. When I was in sports if we lost a game like they have been losing we didn't want to go to practice the next week. Two hour grinders minimum. And that was like, middle school! Fucking pussy ass pansies. I bet Q's idea of WORKING THEM HARD FOR 45 FUCKING MINUTES was them trying to remember what fucking line they were on at the begging of the practice!

assholes.

Yeah...45 minutes. Oh no...? I'm just a scrub men's league player and I could do a hard 45 minute practice and still have some left in the tank. That's pretty fucking weak.

For whomever asked, Bag skating is a term hockey players use referring to constant skating drills. We are not talking about the go around this circle then the next circle; more like 60 second drills, The mountain, Rainbow drill, just so fucking tired that you can't decide if either throwing up or passing out will take less energy.

C'mon guys, a constant 45 minute bag skating is tough on anybody. If you are not tired after going 100% for 45 minutes straight then you are a freak of nature.

Not if you were just getting over the flu. I'd bet money you'd be crying mommy by the end of it.

And from what I heard this morning the practice yesterday nearly killed half of them. Length of the ice over and over, constant for 45 minutes.

Scott was dying as per my flu comment above.

Ahh, the good old fashion bag skate.

Just doing 2 60 second drills in succession is enough to have me laying on the ice... 45 minutes straight? No thanks.

They should have done it for 60 minutes though, just to get the point across that we have to play 60 minutes -- no one would ever forget to play hard again, thats for sure. 45 min isn't weak, but I think 60 would have stayed in their heads.

I'm sure either way it's going to have an impact.

Totally different story if you're getting over being sick. I probably wouldn't last 10 minutes. I feel bad for Scott.

As for the rest of the team...

As long as the phrase: "You don't have the talent to win on talent alone" stuck in their heads...I think it was worth it.

We'll see shortly. I expect Edmonton to not know the freight train that just hit them.

If not this team deserves an early SUMMER to stew in woulda, coulda, shoulda.

From the long one-on-one drills in the corners to the back-and-forth shoot and reverse drills. You could call it a "bag skate" in a sense

See, that doesn't sound like the bag skates I was accustomed to in my playing days... We usually got lined up on the goal lines and just skated for a good 30-45 minutes straight, with VERY little rest in between... If they are doing one-on-one drills, they are resting between them. Same with those shoot and reverse drills. Man, what those silly kids will call a "bag skate" these days!

I remember hearing stories of coaches who would turn the lights off on the rink, put a couple garbage cans at each end of the rink, and skate you until almost the entire team threw up.

In high school, I was never the fastest on the team, more like middle of the pack, and we used to do 60 second drills where the 1st person done wouldn't have to do anymore. I knew I couldn't beat some of the kids on my team in the first 5 trys, so I figured if I coasted with the rest of the slow skaters, when finally the fast ones were knocked out, I could go balls to the wall and get out in the 5th round or so. Unfortunately, this worked all one time as the other slower kids figured out what I had done, and basically we all played at that point "See who wants to go 110% this round and hope nobody else does".

See, I was always pretty much the fastest guy out there, so I didn't mind those 60 second drills when run like that. Most of my coaches ran them the same way, first guy done, doesn't have to skate them anymore. I usually did them once or twice.
