So its official - ive become a married fatarse father and have grown a set of man tits. I started walking and doing push up a couple of weeks ago and have knocked off half the size off the twin peaks... id say another few weeks and theyll be gone.. but id still be a fat arse with my double keg setup around my waist

Im looking for some conditioning ideas to get me in a state where i can actually start to workout without hurting myself. I just realized its been nearly 7-8 years since i lifted weights.

Prior to getting married and having a kid, i was really active. Id ride 15-30 miles a day on a bike, circuit train every other day, play basketball, box (training not fighting) golf. After getting married the only exercise i got was golf and sex.. I stopped playing golf awhile back and really ballooned.. BUT even when i was still playing golf regularly, i was slowly gaining some weight.

All i have on the agenda is push ups, situps, exercise bike, walking and using resistance bands to get my muscles back up to speed the next few months. Doing push ups is a struggle.. a set of 20 kills me. i use to be able to knock out 100+ in a min and not really be tired.. hell i use to sneak in 50+ after every set on the bench.. now im shaking at 10.. haha.. i know those numbers will jump after awhile though..

i guess the routine now is 10-30 minutes on the exercise bike in the morning, and walking at night for my cardio... while mixing in the bands and push/sit ups.. eating mo better

Any other ideas?

Sound weird, but there is this wrestler DDP. He has this DDP Yoga. He has done some extraordinary things with it. Its for all fitness levels. If you have ailments, it works well with that as well. It will take off inches fast and the workouts are no joke. His intense workouts would challenge any fitness guru. Its a lot cheaper than going to the gym and you will gain unbelievable flexibility like tonguing your own butthole if you are in to things like that.

Chris Jericho attributes it to his ability to still wrestle at a high level while remaining injury free.

inb4 Sunbiz tells you to get a bosu ball

SL 5x5 and don't look back. Or another full body routine focused on compound lifts (e.g. squat, deadlift, bench) with incremental weight being added over time. I like StrongLifts because it's really simple, effective and the app makes it really easy to keep track of what you're supposed to be doing. SL is 5 sets of 5, 3 times a week with alternating A/B workouts. Start extremely light (complete deload), add weight incrementally and work on perfect form. This will build the foundation you need. Diet is 80% of it.

SL Free App (which is excellent) :

Some good form stuff for squats, deads, bench etc - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLIasrSrFGdSNbeOT8Agw9N301qCHpRU0

You might want to pick up Mark's book too, Starting Strength - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006XJR5ZA/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1

Some starting diet stuff from Lyle McD (who can be a sociopath, but understands nutrition really well) -

Get it! Good luck and let me know if you have questions.

Oh, I got one more for you. Squats are probably going to be a little hard initially because of flexibility issues, especially in the hip flexors. This helped me a bunch after a long layoff:

You'll be surprised how quick things loosen up and how much mobility improves if you work on the above for a few weeks randomly throughout the day.

Yeah, but only Rosetta Stoned would recommend squatting on an upside-down Bosu to a beginner.

People tend to think balls are for women:)))only, yet holding a push-up position with your feet on a medicine ball is a real challenge.

You could join the Dicklickers in the "Are The Mods Still Using The "Village of the Banned" Thread. That would be a real workout

Im glad you mentioned yoga, because i wouldnt have thought about it. IDK Y. i guess im oldschool and think pushing weight and chopping wood is the only way to get in shape..

i know ddp but never knew he had a yoga system.. i checked it out and im interested in trying a new approach at least for 6-8 months.. or until i feel the need to sling some weight around. i even asked the wife if she wanted to do some yoga with me and she agreed..

im getting older now and trying something low impact sounds like a plan. i tried to work a heavy bag a couple of years ago when i noticed my gut expanding and fractured my wrist.. i was wrapped, using gloves and had perfect form but i stopped working out after that.. i fractured it years before working a bag and quit then too.. docs recommend a pin but i just said nah.. **** hitting a bag anymore.. years of punching a bag in my late teens and early 20s finally caught up i suppose.

Let me guess, the scaphoid bone. Small peanut shaped just below the thumb, otherwise known as a boxer break.

Broke mine over 10 years ago, doc wanted to perform the same procedure. I said I'll come back if and when I am unable to grip a barbell.

Never went back, still pains me once in a while.

Phantom pain is when nerve endings fire off even when no pain exists, amputees experience this.

Our pain is real, fractured bones when not properly set grow calcium deposits. Mine comes and goes, never severe enough to seek surgery.

I still recommend the stability ball, as per link. They force you to balance via your transverse abs using gravity. You can avoid stressing that wrist by balling fists as opposed to flat hands while in push-up position.

Or you can do full body workouts with compound movements and actually get strong.
