The goal is to have a TEAM that can win championships, not find the most elite QB. Marino was the most elite QB I've seen and couldn't win. Rodgers has 1 ring, same with Favre. I could list plenty of "elite" "franchise" QBs that won nothing.

Caleb has flaws on and off the field that people are ignoring simply because they have QB envy and thus pretend that Justin has been the reason the Bears have been bad the last 3 seasons, when the truth is most likely the exact opposite.
Go ahead, name Williams legitimate off the field issues. Enlighten us all.

A great QB makes it easier for everyone else and covers up flaws in a way no other position can.

But obviously having a great QB isn't a guarantee of championships, nor does not having a great QB guarantee you'll have a poor team.
Also, no QB is immune to having bad performances, the really good/great ones still make plays within those. Stroud is having a below average day on paper right now, but he's still made some big time 3rd down conversions.

So far Danial Jeremiah had the best argument for the Bears getting rid of Fields..Don’t know what we have, and it’ll hurt a good part of the fan base but you reset the clock get a new qb. Spend the 30 mil a year on additional talent as you are ascending and make a run at it. Not a fan of getting rid of Fields, but it is a cutthroat league. Take the money, and the talent from the fields trade and call it a day.

As I've stated before, gaining extra 1st round picks offsets that quite a bit...

Its a false dichotomy to only look at the QB for contract value....short sighted

Your odds of winning it all, and competing every year are the highest when you have an elite QB. This isn’t really that complicated. Currently it’s Mahomes who is carrying his team every year deep into the playoffs. Before him it was Brady. The teams that win super bowls typically have a tier one elite QB.
Tom Brady didn't pass for 4000 yards until his sixth season, so when did he become "elite"? He also had more passing attempts than Justin in every season he was the starter.

The point is, for every Brady there is a Dilfer or Kaepernick, for every Mahomes there's a Grossman. Having an Elite QB and mediocre team won't win you anything.

Justin doesn't need to be elite, he is better than he is given credit for and by raising the quality of playmakers around him, the team can compete for championships.

If first round picks matter so much why have the Rams been so good by trading away every first round pick since 2016?

The difference between Fields and a top 10 QB in passing yards is about 25 yards a game

Obviously that isn't counting his rushing yards, which puts him in top ten total yards per game already.

Looking at total TDs

Justin scores about 1.6 TDs throwing and running

Top ten QBs are scoring about 1.65 to 1.75 a game with the best QBs at around 2

The 10th QB in passing yards per game has 261 per ESPN. If you take out guys with less than 10 games, it's 245.

Fields is at 197.

I took out Fields game where he was injured...took out yards as well...

I think that put him at about 210..

I used pro reference...re-looking its about 40 yards

Again this is pretending Fields doesn't run the ball for a significant amount of yards....which reallly should be counted.

The average passer rating in the NFL this year is 89. Fields posted his career best this year ….at 86….so not even average.

In contrast, when Lamar won MVP his 2nd season he had a passer rating of 113. The mental gymnastics bears fans go through to prop up fields is insane.

Its not mental gymanstics to thing Fields cant still improve, because statistically he hasn't stayed flat...its gotten better each year

The off the field flaws include not having the bearings to handle the pressure of dealing with the media after games. Having poor sportsmanship. Being surrounded by family and friends that threaten to hold out of return to school if he isn't placed in a favorable position...

Beyond those we have his personality and desire to go against the grain in order to make personal statements outside of football. Wearing skirts in photo shoots and painting the suicide hotline number on your nails is more than being overly flamboyant. It shows that he may have other personal struggles that can become overwhelming under the bright lights and expectations of being the Bears 1st "franchise QB" since Luckman

I think he’ll certainly improve…it’s just a matter of how much. I don’t think he’s goijg to have a magical leap in year 4, but sure, he should definitely be better. Right now he’s objectively average at best, if not slightly below average.
