I think people would be surprised with what Matt Forte can do with a good offensive line. Give him some holes to run through and you'd see a different back.

Either way Steve Smith is no longer a #1 option in the NFL. Lets just say I would agree with you that Steve Smith is infact > Johnny Knox... it would be a minimal upgrade and giving up a 3rd round pick for a very short term upgrade is not smart.

Nothing matters till the offensive line is OVERHAULED. Then we need a real #1 target, then we need a few more pieces in the secondary that have better coverage skills, then we need to get a running back that can average more than 3 yard per carry, then we need youth on defense. An upgrade at defensive tackle would not hurt either.

steve smith just blows Knox right out of the water come on... LOL, knox doesnt even jump or fight for the football, at all, steve smith may be a little slower (not even sure). I'm positive this guy can still play, have you actually looked at the panthers QB situation during smith's career? he's never had a cutler-like quarterback.

Lovies Contract Ext.

What a bunch of fickled fans. A few wins against the weak teams does not warrant a contract ext. for Lovie. Lets see how they fair for the entire season. Whats the rush nobody else wants the guy.

I'll make my judgment on Knox after next season (if there is one). Normally takes 3 years for WR's to fully "get it". We'll have to see though.

I actually like Knox, but he needs to make a better effort to come back to the ball, my point was that he isn't near steve smith's level yet, but like you said, hopefully we'll get to see the adjustments.

Exactly, one thing thats for sure is Cutler does not have the targets to throw to. A guy like him needs a big receiver that goes up and gets the ball in the air based on the way the throws the ball. The offense does not have a 1 or 2 to be exact, even the radio in Chicago says the same. Johnny Knox is raw and has the skills but he would be perfect as a third/slot receiver. My dream scenario would be the Bears signing Vincent Jackson in the offseason and trading for Steve Smith. You wouldnt give up much for Smith since hes on the wrong side of 30 and his production has been down. A third round pick maybe or a fourth like how the Patriots snagged Randy Moss. After that, sign some LEGIT Oline, Use the draft to shore up our Defense.

I hear this all the time and it just makes me laugh. Quality offensive linemen almost never hit free agency, and in the rare instances when they do they're just about to fall of the cliff and will require a massive, cap-strangling contract (and the cap will definitely be back). Try to name some offensive lineman who might be available next year. Matt Light? He'll be 33 and has knee problems (the absolute worst thing for a lineman). Logan Mankins? He's probably staying in NE or there will be a fight over him between a dozen teams, so you can't rely on him either. What else?

And if you consistently trade draft picks for older players, you'll get a team like the Oakland Raiders after their superbowl year.

Let Knox be Knox. Stop making silly comparison's about a guy who's in his 2nd NFL season!

He went from 35.1 yards per game to 67.2.

Making nice progress.

Lovie doesn't need or deserve a contract extension.. short of another NFC Championship he shouldn't get one, let the coach prove it again what is he gonna not accept a contract extension with the team if he goes to the playoffs back to back years? Lovie isn't that type of person.

I think they should go get Singletary for head coach and give Lovie defensive coordinator. Lovie is not a good head coach. He's too passive. Lovie is a great illusionist though.

My favorite teams
 1. Chicago Cubs
 1. Minnesota United FC
 1. Chicago Bulls
 1. Chicago Bears
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
 1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Bears need to win the North for a contact extension. Lovie and the mice in Halas Hall need to win the division before anything is celebrated.

Most RB's will do well when presented with gaping holes. It's what a RB can do when things are tough that determine their quality.

Most running backs would be hard-pressed to run well with this offensive line blocking for them. I like Forte, and I don't think he's the problem. I would like to pair him with a power back, though.

Why in the hell would you want Singletary are you wanting to drive this team into the ground. This team need a real HC not some ex-player HC want-a-be.

Yeah, but Singletary has been working wonders with the 'Niners. Just a fantastic football coach all around. Screw Bears HC, Singletary for Mayor! Passion and fire!!11

He also needs to stop being a raging psychotic that does very little actual "head coaching duties" during games outside of screaming at people.

And really, he's in a win-win situation in San Fran. If the team loses, it's not really his fault, because who could realistically expect a head coach to turn around a roster of hot garbage, right? But if they win, even in the clumsiest, most ass-backwards, marginal of ways (to almost any extent, but we'll start with .500, though I expect that threshold is much lower), he's a diamond in the rough coach, someone that took the hot garbage in the Bay and squeezed every amount of grit, grind and toughness they had...and hell, can you imagine him with a real team?

So if they lose, he will get another no-pressure start somewhere else ("that team sucked, how can you blame Mike? He did everything he could!"), but if they win to almost any degree, he'll be even more so the patron saint of slobbering meatballs than he already is.
