Dewitt improving? When did this start?

He's 25. He was a first round pick. It's not unreasonable to think he will improve at all.

DeWitt's probably not going to improve all that much more defensively. Offensively he might find some more bat speed. Castillo is on the downhill slope. He's only going to lose speed and range. Seriously, even the minimum is not worth even "seeing what he can do."

His defense will get better, I'm sure of it. He is very new to 2nd, he can still improve immensely. Offensively, I don't think he'll ever be anything special, but I think he can be about average

Eh, fair enough. I just don't see his range increasing that much. You either have it or you don't, I think. But I guess he could improve defensively, that's not too farfetched for sure.

I'll take Darwin Barney over Castillo, Baker, or DeWitt

I agree, Barney has been Colvin 2.0 this spring, a big surprise (even though I predicted that he'd have a big spring in a different thread), and getting a lot of hits. Not really much power though.

But since Barney doesn't seem to be given a shot at the 2B job, I'll take anybody over DeWitt and hope Barney earns it later in the season.

Barney added some muscle in the offseason and he's shown more power than he did last season IMO

Ya, I agree. Not Colvin-power though, which is what I was trying to say.

Still, he has looked great.

I would be happier with Bobby Scales and Barney than Blake DaWitt. That DaWitt looks like Koyie hill at the plate and we all know Hill can't hit worth a shit. On another note I think Vitters looks more like 2B than a 3B.
