The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to trade Andrew Bynum and a draft pick to the Chicago Bulls for forward Luol Deng, sources told ESPN.com.

The deal is expected to be completed on Tuesday morning when the teams have a conference call with the league office.

Bynum is expected to be released by 5 p.m. on Tuesday before the second half of his $12.3 million contract becomes guaranteed.

The deal will save the Bulls more than $15 million in salary and luxury taxes, taking them below the salary-cap threshold. In addition, the Cavs will send the Bulls a first round pick owed to them by the Sacramento Kings that is top 10 protected in the next two drafts.

The Cavs had discussions for more than a week with the Los Angeles Lakers involving in a deal for Pau Gasol but could not come to an agreement. The Cavs also had talks about trading Bynum's contract to the Utah Jazz for Richard Jefferson.

wow we robbed them

i wouldnt say so...that kings pick has some strict restrictions on it

2014 first round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's 1st round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 1-12 in 2014, 1-10 in 2015, 1-10 in 2016 or 1-10 in 2017; if Sacramento has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Cleveland by 2017, then Sacramento will instead convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 56-60 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Cleveland will be extinguished) [Cleveland-Sacramento, 6/30/2011]

with kings always sucking its possible we dont even get it

Boozer will be the next one gone, if not by trade then amnestied in the summer. We might actually be able to pick up Melo.

I know it had to be done, but I'd be lying if I wasn't sad right now.

Just saw on my Facebook feed that the Knicks could be looking to send Carmelo over to Chicago. Rumors are really starting to heat up.

Cleveland gave away quite a bit for somebody I doubt they will keep.

Tanking is in full effect but that's the only good thing about this deal really. Sacramento sucks and the pick is protected from the lottery this year and top 10 protected after that. Sacramento is that bad, we might only get a 2nd round pick out of it in 2017.

The only thing the Bulls got out of it that's guaranteed is 2 2nd round picks...Could have gotten more IMO.

Also, even with all our players off the books who are expiring this year...We don't have enough cash to throw Melo a max contract.

The Kings pick is a bunch of horse shit. Read the restrictions

2014 first round draft pick from Sacramento Sacramentos 1st round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 1-12 in 2014, 1-10 in 2015, 1-10 in 2016 or 1-10 in 2017; if Sacramento has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Cleveland by 2017, then Sacramento will instead convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 56-60 if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramentos obligation to Cleveland will be extinguished
