I think the Bears basically wasted a year of Caleb's development
Peyton Manning speaks the truth
You are trying too hard. Caleb will have his 4th play caller at the start of year 2. He'll have a new system to learn, and I'm guessing/hoping it won't incorporate hardly any of the elements of the 2024 Bears/Waldron offense. You didn't listen to what Manning said. Manning had improvement in year 2 because he was in the same system....Caleb is basically starting from scratch. You didn’t listen to what he said then

Cool. He was also in the same system his 2nd year with the same coaches. Caleb has already had multiple coaches and will have to start over with a new system to start Year 2. Peyton Manning called the Bears situation with Caleb "a mess". Not sure what you saw this year.He literally talks about going 3-13, not playing well, and then says there’s no way he plays good the next year without playing every game his rookie year. CW played every game this year. It will benefit him

Right. I did. He learned how to throw 562 passes and not really get any better or more consistent. Even on his screens, which he got like 15 reps at each game, they were still wild at the end of the year. He was seeing ghosts. He learned how to take 68 sacks. Lets hope he can bounce back next year. He basically survived this year.Of course it was a mess.
You said…. “I think the Bears basically wasted a year of Caleb's development”
Playing 17 games clearly helps his development. Even with a new system next year.
Would you still like him if I told you he eats lots of cookies?Peyton Manning speaks the truth
Manning is 100 % right about Qb development and Mahomes. But who develop Manning ?
The guy who lost out to Eberflus in the HC hiring process of 2022..... Jim Caldwell ( he came in with a plan for JF during his interview )
Caldwell. was with Manning .........
Currently....
- Indianapolis Colts (2002–2008)
Assistant head coach & quarterbacks coach- Indianapolis Colts (2009–2011)
Head coach
Carolina Panthers (2023–present)
Senior assistant
He's 4 yrs younger than Pete Carroll
From the article below:
“The discipline of having that routine really made an impact on me,” Manning said. “I really felt like I just sort of took a step up during the years that he (Jim Caldwell) was my quarterbacks coach.”
Lions coach Jim Caldwell, Broncos QB Peyton Manning ...
Can’t tell if serious…I think the Bears basically wasted a year of Caleb's development
And David ShawI get that Caleb Williams had Shane Waldron and Thomas Brown but it's disingenuous to say he was learning a completely new system in the middle of the season. Brown took over play calling and MAYBE introduced some different plays but he didn't transform the entire offense in the middle of the season to the point it would be detrimental to his development.
There are plenty of things that Caleb Williams struggles with that go beyond coaching. The same seeing the field and getting the ball out on time and in rhythm plague Caleb the same way they plagued Justin.
Those problems are precisely why I didn't want to draft Caleb in the first place because he looks too much like Justin in the way he can't see the field and struggles with his progressions.
I guess we'll see if a new coach can better coach Caleb up. Lincoln Riley for all his QB acumen didn't develop Caleb Williams the way Andrew Luck was developed at Stanford by checks notes, Jim Harbaugh.
I'm aware of who David Shaw is thanks. And David Shaw

Manning is a huge cookie guy...
