http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/blackhawks/post/_/id/4667198/how-about-olczyk-as-assistant-gm

When I read this initially I just laughed it off...

..........BUT.....

Eddie was just on ESPN1000 and Silvy asked him about it and he tiptoed around it VERY carefully. He said "I'm very comfortable where I am now... I work for the greatest organization in sports, I am lucky to do so many great hockey games." Then he said "I feel like I would have a lot to offer (as an assistant GM)" and that he would just play the cards he is dealt.

He sounded VERY uncomfortable when he was asked like there is something going on...

At least he would be out of the booth?

He just signed a contract to announce for 3 more years. I think he likes being in the spotlight.

Eddie's got to be making big bucks from the Hawks, NBC, and Versus.

He made like 450k on a horse race a couple of years ago. He's got plenty of cash. Lives about a mile or so from me.

Please God no! ON the bright side we'd never have to listen to him call a game again though.

I don't know if I could get through a game without hearing: Look at that kid eat that........, or listen to him laugh at himself. He is his own biggest fan. I kind of get a kick out of it.

That's all I'm focusing on man! Now more important than even getting Eddie out of the booth is WHAT must we do to get Foley the **** out of there because he's become useless and irrelevant----short of that what about just getting him off the sauce?

Or during OT when he says it's 4 on 4. Forwards have D and D have Forwards.

The idea of EddieO out of the booth is enticing, but I am not so sure how he would do in the assistant GM position, maybe he would be good. What does the #2 even do, other than fumble the QO's?

I don't mind him on national broadcasts. Well, national broadcasts that don't involve the Hawks.

I don't think Eddie is an idiot, I actually think he's pretty smart when it comes to the game. I just don't like him in the booth, his voice annoys me and I just feel like he repeats himself a lot. I think the announcers have more variety in NHL 11 than Eddie does. Either way, usually when he does explain something, he does a pretty good job describing it in detail, also sometimes going as far as saying what they could have done differently. He might be able to contribute, but I'm still not sure how I feel about it.
