He played great as a WR. Never hated him, damn man came up clutch as a receiver tonight. Hope he gets more opportunities.

Jay seems to trust him in the slot.

I know people dislike him, but thats humorous. And he came up huge tonight with dome great grabs, and he crucially fought for a 1st down on their first scoring drive. Shouts out to him for some damn good blocking as well.

him and Wilson had several first downs. and Jeffery owns.

I have to believe if it wasn't raining all night the passing game probably plays out differently. and playing at Lambeau instead of Soldier Field may have been beneficial, aside from those annoying fans chanting GO PACK GO! I'm thankful I only have to hear that shit once a year.

I know there have been a lot of negative talk about my boy Marc, but he had himself quite the game tonight. 3 catches for 3 big first downs. He might have a place as our clutch slot guy down the stretch here. Up with Montana boys!!!
There's a breakfast restaurant in Missoula with a football play of the grizzly's painted on the inside wall. Is that a play from the great comeback Mariani was a part of? I ate there once and kinda put two and two together about a week or so ago.

His return game is killing me but his WR skills are not that bad. He definitely appears to be better than the usual WR the Bears have tried to pass off as NFL WR over the years.

For me its strictly his return game that is suspect. His WR production has been good enough IMO.

So were you like "noo" when he made those clutch catches?

He's been a decent 3rd down change of pace WR all year. Sadly for him, to hold a roster spot for someone playing that role he also has to be able to help out on special teams.

Keep him off return duties. Keep him in the slot. Seems to run crisp routes and has good hands.

Mariani

I would say Jay is starting to trust him. Probably the first game you could actually say that. After looking at tape the last couple of weeks Jay and Gase were probably like ok... The dude is invisible to the defense. Let's give him a shot. His quick twitch in the slot made him look more like Randle Cobb last night than Cobb did. It would be nice to see if he can put up that kind of play in the slot going forward. It would work wonders for Jeffery and Wilson on the outside of teams had to respect Mariani inside.

Yesterday wasn't the first game he played well as a receiver.

I was talking to family before the game and mentioned that I thought the only reason Mariani was still on the team is that he has turned into a decent receiver.

And he runs hard after the catch, too. Thought that first down when he ran through the tackle that he was Miller for a second.

The Packers high is really getting to some of you. He did make 3 catches last night but come on. Saying he has been a "decent WR all year" or that he "played great as a WR" is ridiculous. He has 7-87yrds on the season. Somehow, after being removed from KR duties he still managed to almost cause a disaster on a KR with a fumble. Deonte Thompson made a heads up play by downing the muffed KR after Mariani tried to catch a KO that was over his head. I have no doubt that Mariani would have retrieved his own muff and brought it out to the 2 if he was given the opportunity. That and Thompsons one and only return, 1 yard shy of Mariani's seasons best, is clear evidence he should not be near the field on KO's.

He hasn't caught much, but when he gets it thrown his way, he catches it and is good runner after he does.

7-87 is 12.4 ypc

It's also 0.64 receptions per game, so decent or great are adjectives I would not use to describe his season. Adequate WR for 1 game while still being a return specialist nightmare is more accurate.

He got his 7 receptions in the last 5 games though, after he started getting more snaps on offensive.
