The good bye Akiem Hicks writing is on the wall. The question is more will they be able to get anything in trade or will he just end up released.

Isn't he still facing prosecution for when he got beat up by a girl in October?

He's a good #2 to have but if Hicks is gone it'll be Nichols starting in his place or a very cheap vet.

Some posters on here cherish that type of behavior

Depends on the details but I think that's a bit of an overpay, but not too bad.

He's not going to be a guy who takes 70% of snaps, but he will have an important role as an interior disruptor and potentially a base end in sub packages.

I think the standard PED suspension is four games, not sure why they gave two in this case.

in 2020 with 24% of the snaps, he recorded the following..

sacks 4
tackles 17
TFL 6
QB hits 7

FWIW, PFF gave him an 88.6 for the year.

It’s unclear how much of that is guaranteed, but it represents a nice payday for Edwards, who bounced around the league for a couple of years before finding some stability in Chicago in 2020. Though he played in just under a quarter of the Bears’ defensive snaps last season, he managed a career-best four sacks and graded out as the third-best interior defender in the league, per Pro Football Focus’ advanced metrics.

The limited snap count and the inherent uncertainty in PFF’s metrics suggest that Edwards’ stellar overall grade of 90.1 might skew a little high, but the Bears clearly feel confident that he can continue to be a productive rotational piece if nothing else. That is despite the fact that Edwards will be suspended for the first two games of the 2021 season due to a PED violation.

Probably one of those inadvertent supplement deals.

I guess this makes sense if we are moving on from Hicks which I personally don’t want to do. I’m still so mad about that Trevathon deal he should be gone then we could keep our leader. This defensive group has never been good without Hicks something to keep in mind.
