That was sort of unexpected, but not really. Still amused that the Marlins have random money lying around.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Chicago State Cougars
  2. DePaul Blue Demons
  3. Illinois-Chicago Flames
  4. Loyola Ramblers
  5. Northern Illinois Huskies
  6. Northwestern Wildcats
If only Pujols would have signed there instead of going back to STL (they're only a few million apart for the total amount in the contract and he is coming back).

Man, kind of didn't see that coming. I would've figured Buehrle would've ended up in St. Louis (that rumor had been flying around the last few years) or in Texas.

LOL, they don't. Their counting their eggs before they've hatched. They think that this new ballpark, new uniforms/logos, and going out to get Jose Reyees/Heath Bell/Mark Buehrle are going to bring out the droves.

If LeBron/Bosh/Wade couldn't sell out American Airlines Arena consistently in the WINTER, not a chance in hell the Marlins sell out a 50,000 seat stadium during the best weather of the year...especially considering they could barely get 1,000 visitors to come last year. No way they get a 50-fold revenue increase.

Going to be my pleasure watching the city of Miami implode in 4-5 years when the Marlins have clearly mortgaged their future by spending money they knew they'd never make back (let alone get a surplus), the Heat having 0 titles with an over-the hill Wade, and most importantly zero titles as a city in any major sport.

**** Miami.

I feel your dislike, but there are a few mistakes in your statement and thinking.

1. The Marlins were selling out when they did win the world series a while ago.
2. The Heat, and Wade, already won a title. I understand you said an "over-the-hill" Wade (which is disputeable, since he isn't that old), but your last sentence states the city has zero titles, which is false.
3. The Heat will probably be winning the NBA title this year.

I will always love and respect Mark for what he has done here. He is a great guy and I knew he wasn't going to re-sign this offseason.

With that said, why the **** did he have to sign with that scum bag team? I have lost a tiny bit of love and respect for Mark because of who he signed with. St. Louis, Texas or another team would have been a different story, but the latino-infested Miami Marlins?
BAH!!!

I understand the vitriol over losing Buehrle because the Miami Marlins ponied up the most dough, by all appearances, but what does the bolded have to do with anything?

1. We aren't in 1998 or 2003 anymore. Also, getting a crowd in the post-season doesn't net you nearly the revenue to even break even with their current budget.

2. You took my post out of context. I'm talking about since the City of Miami went on it's sports spending spree last summer. Not prior to that. Also...In 4-5 years when Wade is going to be 34-35, that's not going to be over the hill?

3. That's speculation.

I'm not a fan of illegals in this country. I'm surrounded by them on a daily basis and Miami is the capital of illegals. Comprende?

That is fine and all, but I am pretty sure all of the Marlins are here legally.
