Marlon Byrd is still the best player on this team. Good for him, bad for the Cubs.

consistently wise i agree...his defense is arguably the best in our outfield and he may be the best or 2nd best base hitter on the team(maybe behind castro now)

I guess I am curious what you mean by best player. I guess I could see an argument if it was combining offense, defense, and base running. But Marlon Byrd is at best just a slightly above average player. That said it could be good for the Cubs because he is paid little relative to his production, and could be a guy that could net us some decent prospects to rebuild this team around.

He has more range than Kosuke, but Kosuke is a great defender in right. Bryd is probably average because while his range is better than Kosuke it isn't good for a CF. It is good thing he doesn't regularly have to play in the NL West because that would be exposed in those big ballparks.

On any other team he's probably a LFer...but his defense is good, his offense is good, his base running is better than most on the team (not nec. speed-wise, but just being a smart baserunner)...He never is involved in scuffles or arguments...dude's just a pro's pro.

marlon is probably our most balanced player imo

yes marlon is not considerably above average(which tells you a bit about our team right now...aging veterans vs. young rising prospects and injuries)...but he is a good jack-of-all-trades player(excluding power)..

DeJesus puts the go sign up when the are facing the Royals and the Cubs is gona be thrown out at hime. But..he puts the stop sign up when Castro made it home eaisly. Makes tons of sense, right?

Cubs have Johnson and Baker who smash lefties, Quade keeps Pena in. :obama:

Two critical mistakes happened in that 8th inning: one being the obvious, that blind umpire that missed that call at 2nd base and the fact that Quade left Kerry Wood in to face two left handed batters. He should have brought in Sean Marshall, the game was on the line.

Unbelievable.
