this is almost as pathetic as the Cubs forum
Actually the Bulls traded half their roster to acquire Lebron didn't they? As for Wade and Lebron, the tax didn't matter, they had CAP SPACE. As for Melo and Kobe...please show me a link to an article that says the Bulls wouldn't acquire those players because of the tax. Would love to read it.
Retain Ben Gordon so you can continue to lose to teams like Washington, Miami, Detroit...teams that WERE NOT PAYING THE LUXURY TAX when they beat the Bulls?
There was NO LUXURY TAX during the Jordan era...none. The luxury tax system didn't start until 2003....
Its one thing to complain about the Bulls not spending into the lux tax...its another thing to criticize them when they do, based on fabrications.
We are paying the tax for 1 reason & 1 reason ONLY.
I'll leave it up to all of you to figure out what that is.
Great.
Management finally goes over cap.
For garbage.
Nice.
What's your point?
I would of rather they signed Malcom Thomas instead.
That's not the sole reason (though I guess if you wanted to you could single it out as one of the deciding factors) imo, but I did find it strange to see that they had eventually signed him for 2 years/8M after all the reports had said that they'd sign him for the MMLE. Why did they give him an extra 5k or whatever more, especially if they want to avoid the tax? They knew exactly what it would do. It's not like they didn't know the team salary going into the offeseason. They already knew when they signed him that they would not be matching Omer (which is why they didn't give him the MMLE). It's just weird...They overpaid for Hinrich. I don't know what other reasons there were but that is the reason I think of. Now if people are pissed over that...shame on you. Especially if Ben Gordon's name is brought up.

I would agree...if I had any confidence in the thought that the Bulls would be taxpayers at the end of this season or that they'd be tax payers in any of the next 2 seasons. The rule is what...3 out of 4 years? 2 out of 3? I forget. Either way, I see the Bulls getting under the tax somehow, either this season or next. Not quite sure...don't know the particulars...but I think that the Bulls going over the cap is not good at all, because of the repeater rate that would pay when they actually have a contender.

Guess everyone will have a real reason to hate Kirk Hinrich this year. Either his play or the fact that his contract was overpaid by like 7k a year.Kirk Hinrich

ya the bulls should have gotten ben gordon instead
Well actually they should of tried to get Gordon.
Better going over the cap for Ben than this uneffective Hinrich character y'all speak so highly of.
Kirk Hinrich even at 4M > BG at 12M
Yeah, but Hinrich is "unaffective"!
What's "unaffective"?
