He signed a two-year deal during the summer of 2012, so his deal will expire after this season. Every penny off the books counts, at this point.

The Bulls will have to submit a qualifying offer by June.

Boozer will be more attractive next season when he's an expiring.

Maybe we use his salary in a trade for Melo or Love this offseason?

Exactly, people underestimate the difference between trading Boozer and amnesting him. Pulling off one of those trades would be brilliant, imo!

Agreed, but it will cost the Bulls around 8mil/yr.

$8 million, btw, is about the figure of the top salaries in Spain. The tough part is the Bulls, by rule, can only pay $600k of the $2.5 mil buyout from Real Madrid. So either Mirotic will have to play for a little less the first season to jump to the NBA, or the Bulls will have to work a bonus to make up the difference, imo.

Everyone on this team is up for grabs at the right price. Would not be surprised in the slightest to see Noah moved. Based on win shares and his contract, he's the biggest bargain at center in the entire league. Someone will want him.

Have you been watching Noah take over the leadership role for the Bulls, and put up 20/10 games regularly?

I actually think that Boozer will have value next season.

He'll be a 16/10 PF on an expiring deal. There are contenders praying for their PF to produce numbers like that.

You are probably right, but you can't say never (that is speculation).

There is 1 scenario i can think of that's a possibility:

Bulls trade:
Player x (a player the other team covets)
Bulls 1st rd pick (Charlotte)
Bulls 1st rd pick 2015
swap 2014 1st rd picks

Bulls get:
Player x
swap 2014 1st rd picks

Slim?...yes...but possible

The thing is that the Bulls DO have options. All these assets give them that. Don't forget the Bulls propensity to use a 2nd on another Euro player for the future. Very well be why the Bulls liked all those 2nds, imo. They could trade all their early picks and/or a player, yet still use the 2nd's to draft for the future. To me, I see the Bulls looking to bring in Mirotic, draft 1 great player from the draft, and signing/trading for 1 great FA.

Yeah, I actually like Boozer's game to a point. He's got Heart and is tough, he just doesn't have the quickness for me. And as you say, he will be an expiring contract for some team next year. This WILL be attractive to a team that wants to bring in a pretty good PF that'll also clear up $16.8 mil the following year!

i dont think any lotto team would give us the option to swap picks for any players we have,.....even if they did it would be atleast top 5 protected

its zero chance of us getting in top 3 unless we end up in the lotto and we have some more 1.7 luck

Boozer expiring contract is only useful to help make salary work on a big trade

do you think Minny would take Boozer+Jimmy+Nikola+Picks for Love? thats only deal i see boozer being useful for

To be honest, I think that's way more than the Lakers can offer up.

Keep in mind that it will probably be between the Bulls & Lakers. The Wolves will have limited leverage the closer we get to the trading deadline, so they will eventually take what they can get from us or the Lakers. I'm basing this on the old Melo situation in Denver where he restricted the Nuggets options because of him refusing to extend his contract with teams that he didn't want.

I believe we are on the same page. I think you are spot on with your remark of "To me, I see the Bulls looking to bring in Mirotic, draft 1 great player from the draft, and signing/trading for 1 great FA."

Furthermore, I'm not saying Mirotic will be a HOF'er. But what I am saying is that, the Bulls have owned his NBA rights for - I believe - going on 3 years, so it's probably safe to say that they have scouted him enough to know what they have in him. If they believe they can bring him over and contribute within a team capacity, then certainly they have had enough discussions with Tibs to be able to make that assumption.

So again, if the last sentence in your post is their actual plan, then I am on board.

You may very well be right about the top 3, but you never know.

I hope this draft is not too overhyped, but if the Bulls plan to move up to #5, and are able to find a dance partner, it seems that there will be some good players 5-10.

Not sure what they would be willing to take, but one thing is for sure, 2014/15 (next year) will basically be his last season with Minny because he can opt out of 2015/16.
So unless there are changes in heart there (possible) and or things drastically improve in a team sense, it will be in their best interest to move him and get something for him, either prior to this Feb 20, or this comming off-season.

I also saw Jrue Holiday average 18 and 8, making an all-star berth, and becoming one of the up and coming PGs only to get traded out of no where at the draft. You're kidding yourself if you don't think there is a possibility he gets traded. There are only a handful of "untouchable" players in the NBA.
