Ok, so it will be flamed by the usual bunch but I figure I'd ask.

How is marriage life, for those that are involved that deeply? Are you happy? Did you set out in life to find someone you connect with? Or did you settle for a Frank Wheeler in Revolutionary Road and hope for the best? Did it work out for you?

I'm getting older and I like the idea of marriage; but after seeing at 17-18 years old, so many housewives screwing around with personal trainers and such while husbands worked to provide.. And THEN come in at nights with their family to get another workout in, I've been very sorry about the idea of marriage.

Or seeing a married woman at a var(last night) be so full blown flirtatious with some guy that I may know, who was not her husband. I have become somewhat.. Not cool w the idea of it(not just one instance). And I know a bud who's a male stripper who's banged bachelorettes(serious) and it's made me have zero remote interest in idea of marriage. Or a guy I know through a friend who was banging a woman and making sex tapes while her husband was battling cancer(**** you If you think I'm full of shit), shit has messed my mind.

Nothing's happened to me directly, but I figure id ask because I say 70% on here are older than me; and we don't know eachother. Did it work out for the best? Is there trust? Etc

Marriage is nothing new. It's just life if you have dated. Being with a woman is kind of normal.

Finding the right woman is the key.

someone who loves you for you not who she thinks you should be. someone who knows your faults accepts them and loves you anyway.

as far as infidelity goes I haven't had those issues with my wife a few instances of cheating by myself and some girlfriends before I met my wife sure but when you meet the right person you will know it and wont have to worry about that

Bottomline marriage sucks. Just get a life partner if you want companionship and then trade her in once a decade.

If you're worried about adultery and cheating, set up video cams around your house and put a GPS tracker on your girl's car.

My view of marriage is probably different than a lot of people's nowadays. I see a growing trend where people treat spouses like things that you can just replace when you don't like it anymore. To me, that doesn't make sense. What's the point of having a vow like "til death do us part" if you're gonna split after you go through a rough patch. There's no sense of commitment to the other person. It's all about what the other person isn't giving you. To me, that's not how it should work. What Serious Poster said is true "someone who loves you for you not who she thinks you should be. someone who knows your faults accepts them and loves you anyway." That's commitment. Or at least a part of it.

Despo I will be married 34 years this month. My wife is my best friend and the best person I have ever met. We've been together 36 years and known each other for 40 years. Living your life with the love of your life is very special.

Marriage is good for folks like Urblock or HBK who found the right person and want to be together forever.

I think Marriage being the general destination that human society expects you to shoot for is a bad practice.

Having this timeline and set of milestones a person must adhere to in order to conform to society is a bad thing..... you gotta date someone, you gotta commit, you gotta get married, you gotta have kids.... these kinds of imperatives lead to people rushing in to bad marriages and having kids in bad marriages and junk.

If you find the right person and want to commit and build a life and perhaps a family together, that is great.... if you don't.... you should not feel pressure to force the issue and get married and/or have kids.

IMO nothing wrong with marriage itself.... but marriage and partnership being some kind of imperative is a bad thing.

Marriage, sucks, road construction sucks, life sucks. I wouldn't take advice on how to change a light bulb from this idiot.

Tying the knot in November and can't wait...I lucked out and found a great girl who has a good head on her shoulders and is the best person I know. My suggestion is steer clear from Puerto Ricans, I hear they are batshit crazy.

Pretty much ALL married people are like this. At least 90% or about half are like this. My wife an I are part of the other half. We are a team and we WIN at marriage as well as most aspects of life, together.
