Well Mateo is headed to the DL with an elbow injury. Far from good considering how effective he was, but with him going on the DL the Cubs could bring Chris Carpenter right back up without the usual wait time.

Ramon Ortiz has to have a spot created and it is either going to be Dempster to the DL or Coleman sent down. My guess it is dependent on how Dempster is feeling. If it looks like Dempster can go, his next turn then Coleman will get sent down. If not, then Dempster will head to the DL.

So tomorrow we are likely to have two pitchers added to the roster in Chris Carpenter and Ramon Ortiz.

If they have no intention of trading Dempster anyway, and given the state of this season, they should just play it safe and put Demp on the DL.

Given the state of this season, I don't begrudge them for taking two week vacations here and there :D
