I absolutely hate shopping for furniture because you've got a salesperson following you around almost the entire time (at least the ones I've been to.) Also, I heard the mark up of furniture is one of the highest of any industry.

The mark-up is bad because of storage. Think of the space required for an ikea…and they are the ones doing some things efficiently. Plus you have to pay two strong guys to put them on display, and likely 2 more to deliver. 2 more if they go back in storage.

Easy to sell but hard to time. Like an auto dealer holding too much inventory…the warehouse fees add up.

It’s a great business but has margin points like any other where you make your money with efficiency vs competitors.

Like firewood…is a very hard life with a half ton pick-up that carries 1/3 of a cord.

You ain’t making money until you have a wood splitter and a two cord truck. Handle less. Move less. Sell more.

I did that last year.
Had to upgrade the K mattress and luckily we didn't need a box spring or frame. Both my boys have grown out of the race car bed stage so had to go all in on a whole new setup. Unreal how much it all costs.

I sold mattresses for almost 5 years and the markup on them was crazy. I got a very well known name brand mattress set for $1300 that was allegedly "factory price" in order to incentivize us to sell more of that company's beds. That same mattress set was retailing for over $4500 for literally the exact same set up. Got the same warranty and everything. Keep in mind, this was in 2014 so I think the equivalent now is about $4800. Just ridiculous mark up but damn are they comfy.
