Not a good performance tonight, his value is probably not very high right now, the Cubs probably won't receive what they want, so does this increase the likelihood that we resign him, or let him walk? Because unless he boosts his value a lot, I can't see a deal that Theo and Jed can make that would appease anyone. Even the slurpers.

Not making excuses for him, it was a bad outing.

But what do you think his value is anyway? Real tough to judge anyone on this bad team.

They are truly in a no win with Garza at this point.

I'd like to know what motivation these guys have when they come to the park? Not saying that some of them don't play hard, but really, how frustrating is it to wake up each morning and know that you are 15 games or more out and not have any support?

I mean, Soriano had Hairston hitting behind him. Now that's protection right there!

The Cubs were out of the race in April. I have to feel that some of these guys (maybe a lot of them) definitely have the Ian Stewart approach of just milking the contract for what it's worth, or just padding their own stats to hopefully get a contract, an extension, or get traded. Just my observation.

100% agree.... No question it wears on your psyche.

Thats why he had an horrible outing in the sixth. He lost his composure when Hairston o layed Vottos ball. I doubt he would have lost it if he trust the team, but he knows that this team cant score and the defense let him down all night. The pitcher got 2 bunt singles and one swinging bunt for hits. He got no help and it just exploded. Garza stuff is there. Lets just hope his mind stays with them. He is extremely competitive and I am sure it gets to him how bad this team is.

Good question my guess is maybe a top 10 spec but your not gonna get a few tops or anything crazy. Maybe he takes less money to come back now?

im starting to think maybe the cubs are leaning this way..

i think before the deadline, they may offer a 1 yr deal especially if he continues to struggle and hope he takes it with the thinking of not wanting to go into the off season as a FA that struggled..

i think they offer one with a mutual option for a 2nd

If he doesnt take it, then they have to decide whether or not any offer they get for him is better then a draft pick compensation for him

Maybe he doesn't want to play for a "rebulider" and wants the fuck out like I'm sure most of them do.

Wouldn't be surprised if Shark leaves either. Then we can start looking at 40 wins as being great and how things will only get better.

Samardzija won't have enough service time to be granted free agency until after 2015.

I'd take my chances in F/A. Sticking means another wasted year. Teams are going to look at his situation and how his personal performance was vs any other factors.
