I'm tickled we got Fields. Really should not have happened. But it's going to get more frustrating before it gets better.

It took Manning 8 years to win an SB. It took Elway 15. Marino never won. We have been conditioned to think getting a QB is a major hurdle...it's not. That's only true for bad franchises. Our franchise has not even considered the other hurdles.
No, it is a major hurdle to get a franchise QB.

What you are trying to say is that there are other hurdles that need to be hurdled to win a championship and that is true.

Knock on wood because just basically looking at the the last 6 months is a fucking experience

Bears fall ass first into the playoffs knowing they don't deserve to be there.

They get pantsed by the Saints and shit on themselves in the process

Bears fans wait in excitement as there is no way they bring back the same regime but in my narrator voice " they brought back they same regime". Torches are lit

Bears release bust Trubisky so at least there is some silver lining

Big name QBs ask for trades and the bears name is involved in anybody who may have even thrown a nerf football.

Wentz goes to the colts, Bears get cucked
Stafford goes to the Rams, Bears get cucked
Watson is probably fucked, Bears get cucked
But the biggest fucker cucker is Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. Wilson has the nerve to even look towards Chicago and the conspiracy theories fly. Folks ready to trade their manhood to Seattle based on cliche Bible verses and Pace Flys out to Fargo (allegedly) does the spider man 3 dance for entertainment and Pete Carroll says nah. BEARS GET HELLA CUCKED

Then the bears sign Andy Dalton and Bears fans start a slow March to Halas hall ready to incite a jan 6th type peaceful protest and take selfies.

Then the draft comes. Bears have the useless #20 pick and the only QB who looks like they might be available is a kid with a dad bod, smoking a cigar.

1st pick-Lawarence
2nd pick - Wilson
3rd pick- Lance?

Cool cool but ain't no way Fields gets past the QB starved Broncos. Fangio gets ready to call in for a QB but Elway realizes something. His legacy is on the line, if a good QB comes in and dare plays better than him he would no longer have Broncos fans by the balls, he headbutt Fangio using the hardest and largest part on his body to hit him, his nose, knocking him out cold then picks another defensive player.

The Bears trade up. Bears fans are exited, Fields is right there but they are skeptical because they don't know if Pace will go fill Special person again and grab Mac Jones instead like he did in 2017 but finally we get smiled up. Fields is called.

Yes im excited, no there wasnt a reason for this thread but I'm a HOFmer so I do what I want. Thank you for your time

JAN 6th wasn't peaceful Fuck you

Try to imagine Matt Nagy hoisting that Hallas trophy any time soon....

No, I can't picture that either.
Ok so you're just a cynic. That's fine because the bears made a lot of people get to that point

It was really nice until you got to the draft. Then it was a bit weak. Lots of things had to happen for the Bears to get Fields.

1. Wentz wentz to the Colts. This took out team number 1 from looking for a QB in the draft.
2. Everyone knew Lawrence was going to be the #1 pick two years ago. Since he did not get injured, that took out the #2 QB needy team.
3. After two ordinary years, boy wonder had one good year against Pac 10 talent. This sent him flying up draft boards where the Jets fell in love with him. Team #3 was out of the Fields sweepstake.
4. Since the Jets had Darnold and were going to draft Zach Wilson, they traded Darnold to Carolina. Though not 100% ruling Carolina from drafting a QB with trading for Darnold, it made it easy for Carolina to draft the first CB instead of going after Fields. Team #4 was now out of the Fields sweepstakes.
5. The 49ers fell in love with a QB with one year experience who played that one year against really bad competition. Does Lance possess any traits that are actually BETTER than Fields? Team #5 out of the Fields sweepstakes.
6. Atlanta had the choice of picking a QB as the eventual replacement for their QB or a generational talent at TE. They chose the generational talent at TE, with the hope of a few more shots at a championship before Matt Ryan retires. Team #6 out of the Fields because of a once in a lifetime type of TE
7. The Bengals were never going to be in the Fields sweepstake, but they chose Chase to reunite with Burrows. This allowed the top OT to fall.
8. The Dolphins had an ok showing from their rookie last year though Fitz was much better when he played. Having just taken their future QB last year, they looked to add to the WR position with Waddle.
9. Because the Bengals passed on the top OT, Detroit decided to draft Sewell. If the Bengals had drafted Sewell, chances are high that Detroit would have drafted a QB because ... Goff. Team #7 out of the Fields sweepstakes.
10. The Aaron Rodgers talk now becomes important. If the story had not broken right before the draft, Denver would have probably taken a QB at this spot. With the slight chance of getting a Rodgers trade, the Broncos drafted in a fashion to trade for Rodgers. They drafted the #1 CB Surtain because it was both a need for the Broncos but also the Packers. If you are going to try to trade for Rodgers, it is best that you have some things that the Packers want back. Team #8 out of the Fields sweepstakes.
11. The Cowboys are sitting at 10 with the need for a CB. The top 2 CBs go right before their pick. If Surtain were still there, the Cowboys would have drafted him. Because they were gone, Dallas was willing to trade down.
12. Because Philly was able to trade up and take the player that the Giants wanted, the Giants were now in a position of wanting to trade down. And the Bears won the Fields sweepstakes.
13. If Dallas picks Surtain and Fields was still available, teams would be dealing with the Eagles. Who knows which team would have been able to move up at the point? The Vikings, Patriots and WTF (washington team of football) all were all still ahead of the Bears pick and were all interested in the possibility of moving up and drafting a QB. The Philly move is what iced this. Without it, the Giants stay put and we don't know what happens next.

There were at least 11 teams besides the Bears with some interest in drafting a QB. It took a whole lot of luck for Fields to be drafted by the Bears
Great and accurate breakdown. Atlanta had just restructured Ryan's contract and are on the hook for at least 2 more of the 3 years remaining of a costly contract. Without the deal, they may have considered young blood if they really liked Fields but they weren't really in that market, even if they should have considered it.
Philly moving up is what sealed the deal. Without that, Giants stay put and anything could of happened after that.

This is probably the first draft pick that everybody, and I MEAN EVERYBODY, liked the Bears pick of Fields. Pace has his flaws but comparing to his predecessor, he is a major upgrade. At least he will try he best to get the player he covets.

I’m still am still pissed off at Phil Emery not moving up to get Donald. Let the fucking Rams picks HOF just ahead of them. At least Pace would’ve traded up to get Donald.

Emery was worst Bears GM ever

Fuller was a decent consolation prize. Plus had he traded up we would’ve probably been without Will Sutton and/or Kadeem Carey!! Plus he picked Ego Ferguson in the second!!…2 picks before Davante Adams!!

Who would want both Donald and Adams on this team?

Emery got Jeffery and Marshall the year before. No way Emery would've drafted Adams, but it would've been nice. As for Fuller, his first year was good. Then next 2 years had problems staying healthy. Bears decided not to pick up 5th year option and then Fuller had All-Pro year.

Donald never had a down year. His pass rush instantly makes secondary better.

Those QB's came from an era that college QB's were less prepared to play in a pro-style offense. THat's not the case in the era. This alone shortens the timetable to possibly win a SB.

You forgot Bridgewater trade to Denver as well. I'm not sure how tf you trade for him knowing you possibly have a chance at an actual good, young QB.. Lock/Bridgewater training camp battle looks alot like Trubisky/Foles...

Saints were reported to have been trying to trade up as well, possibly Steelers.

You are right. I did not mention him.

I think Bridgewater was more of an insurance policy if the Rodgers deal didn't come through. I believe that, if the Broncos get a chance at Rodgers in the next month, they would be willing to eat the Bridgewater cost.

Man, you really believe just getting a QB solves everything - yikes.

Its a better situation than not having one.

Don't really get your whole negative vibe for every single little thing

Fields opens up a new window of "rookie QB on a cap friendly contract" to allow the front office to try and build around him. We did this before with Mitch and had that played out, the defense did manage to peak as needed but the QB and offensive performance wasted that effort. We are in that position again now where if they can get a formidable defensive performance and surround Fields with some talent, that window puts them in the opportunity to try and compete while he is on his rookie contract. I feel better about Fields than I did Mitch and stage is set for the Bears to be successful, we just have to hope they execute the script better this time.
