I loved Mike Brown, but all you guys saying this almost brought you to tears? Seriously? There are starving and persecuted people all over the world and nobody gives a shit but you cry over a multi millionaire who didn't get to play in the Superbowl?

Sometimes the priorities of people really bewilder me.

Yeah because watching a young man who is heartbroken to say that his body is broken down and unable to take the abuse of playing football for our enjoyment, shouldn't mean anything to us. There is a time and place for everything so on a football messageboard I would expect people to be passionate about the players. To act as if we shouldn't give a damn or show empathy for people simply because they are rich is as stupid and uncaring as the point you are trying to make about starving and persecuted people. If you want to discuss social injustice feel free to make a post about it, or better yet go do something about it.

Hey man, I feel bad about the starving and persecuted too. But face it, they don't play for the Bears.

Agreed. In the grand scheme of things, it should be very low on everyone's list of things to feel bad about.

Nonsense. Mike Brown isn't having his village bombed, his family blown up and his livelihood crushed. It's nowhere near the same level.

If you want to discuss social injustice feel free to make a post about it, or better yet go do something about it.

You have no idea what I'm involved in. My post doesn't require it's own thread; it was simply to point out how ridiculous some people's priorities are.

So people shouldn't feel emotion because there is always someone else in a worse situation? Brilliant Bearmick.

Mike Brown singlehandedly turned me into a hardcore Bears fan with his back to back OT pick 6's FTW.

Neither of us knows what the other is involved in, thats the point its a message board. I may or may not agree with your point about what is important in life, but you don't get to have a "holier than thou" opinion of yourself when you are in the "**** it Im goin deep club" Rex Grossman fanclub. Its hypocritical to tell people their priorities are wrong or how low it should be on their list of things to feel bad about, when you are on the same message board. Who are you "Bearmick The Christ" walking amongst us heathens and pointing out our foolish ways for idol worship and caring about whiny millionaires???

Thats the point I make about there is a time and place for everything but looking down your nose at people for feeling sorry for a person that is hurt, is pretty self righteous. If you are doing something about all the bullshit in the world good, keep up the good work, but don't think it makes you better than anyone else.

THe whole "christ" holier than thou stuff is your interpretation of what I said, and says a lot about your mentality.

My post was meant partially in jest. But seriously...no one gives a shit right now. Why bring that stuff up? I mean I care about those things in real life, but thats not why I'm here. Can't people just have fun on a message board without someone getting all high and mighty about "getting our priorities straight."

It's nothing to do with high and mighty, I just find it weird that people can be moved to tears by a millionaire missing some games.

It's ludicrous how defensive you people are getting over this.

When you say we shouldn't care about another human because he never won a superbowl and he is a millionaire, what does that say about YOU? I don't think anybody said they were actually crying tears like we know the guy personally but I think most non-psychotic people actually feel sorry for other people when we see that they are hurting. Especially if we feel some kind of connection to that person. I don't know you and can't judge you off a post but I think you were kind of being a dick.

Why must every thread turn into a pissing match? This is a thread to say how much we appreciate the greatness that is Mike Brown. Keep your drama out of it!

When you say we shouldn't care about another human .....

I stop reading posts after the first blatant falsity, and it came early in this one. If you want to talk to me you're going to have to respond to what I actually say, not what you think I meant.

You need to find a hobby.
Was it something I said? Mike was a fine player for his first 3 or 4 years but after that, pretty much nothing but a permanent resident on IR but the ass kissing continued forever and I never understood it. You people need to move on and stop all that wimpy lamenting. This man got rich for doing little more than watching games from the sideline. He requires no pity no matter how many tears he, himself, sheds over the fact he was so injury prone.
