I don't think actual ethnicity has anything to do with these competitions. The Philippines were a Spanish colony for over 300 years and an American territory for another 50. Saying she doesn't look 100% Filipino is kind of like saying none of the South/Central Americans look like their respective indigenous peoples.

I mean, have you guys seen what ethnic Mayans look like? Definitely not what we would consider as representative of modern Mexicans, Belizeans, El Salvadorians, Guatemalans, or Hondurans for the most part. Of course the degree at which those different areas retained aboriginal genetics varies, but I doubt you'll see many "native looking" representations at Miss Universe regardless of what country we're talking about.
