What you are missing Rask is he is not ready and to this point has never been in the class of Bryant. He needs to learn to control the strikeouts as well as hit with some consistency the non-fastballs.

EDIT: And keep beliefs out of this section of the board. There's a place for that over in the bar.
Then keep personal attacks out. There is an alley somewhere for that.

Oh my bad. I thought we traded Chris Sale for him, so he must be pretty good. #1 prospect, highest paid player of his age ever. Guess my expectations were too high.

I agree, show me in this thread where I personally attacked anyone.

Perhaps. But again, you asked for the comparison to Bryant and he's no Bryant.

Chris Sale is a grown man who threw a hissy fit because he didn't get to wear what he wanted to wear. He also ripped his boss, because his boss didn't think a fucking 12 year old should be in an MLB locker room.

**** Chris Sale. Glad he's gone.

I'm only glad that Chris is gone because it would be nearly impossible for everything to break right for us to win with what we have. With him being traded we started the process of trying a different route to reach another Championship.

Oh come-on. One of the best pitchers the Sox have EVER had and you are glad that he is gone. Heard the same shit about the cancers that the McCaskey's were glad to get rid of in the embarrassment called the CHicago Bears.

I have no animosity toward you Brett. I'm sorry brother.

I respectfully disagree on this issue. Because I see your side, and agree on some principles of rebuilding. It just doesn't feel perfectly right to me in this case, because of

1. The time left on Sales contract, and his durability to this point. For me, it then pushes to the current rebuild chances at success.
2. Abreu....I see as a potential MVP talent when he has his career year. When you have one of those guys, pause.
3. Anderson. Is a holy shit player.
4. Frazier is solid.
5. second baseman can be found.
6. Should of gone hard on Gattis, imo. if you settle for a defensive one they can be found cheap. We need to hold runners in our stadium, imo.
7. Quintana, Rodon
8. Cabrera is solid
9. Span or Fowler could have been had at what? modest and fair price for a plus baseball player who does things right, the clubhouse leader you want for the young guys to emulate, with big time playoff experience each.
10. I feel like the obstacles left was to buy a bullpen, and find one more pitcher.
11. We blew how many games? A closer alone would net ...
12. I'm perfectly fine with the Eaton trade and then adding one of those center fielders. Or taking a big chance and offering to absorb Heywards contract if you get chance to trade for Schwarber out of it, meaning prospects.
I mean...if I am right that Sale wins a Cy Young in his career, and Abreu gets a top 3 vote one year in MVP.....then I think it was wrong to drop him with so much time. Maybe I view Anderson/Abreu differently than others...I don't know...I just really loved that core.

13. I think those moves, other than Heyward and another starter, could have been made. Puig could probably be wrestled out of L.A. Other than the Heyward/Schwarber/Hammell blockbuster its all reasonably priced.
A superstar SS, an MVP slugger, and a Cy Young is not something you deal? Can we agree on that, if thats what we had it was wrong...and if they never approach that again as a trio in the same year...well ok, it was just a drugged out spiritually dying stress turning my hair white daily Rask fantasy.

1. Fowler CF
2. Schwarber DH/C
3. Abreu
4. Frazier
5. Hill or Reyes I think could have been had. Reyes is looking comback player of yearish.
6. Anderson
7. Gattis C/DH
8. Heyward RF
9. Puig LF

1. Sale
2. Quintana
3. Hammell
4. Rodon
5. ? AAA

Sorry...I just thought a baseball team should spend money and try to win. I don't know what that costs, if its 200,000,000 forgive me, but in a dream somewhere where we could compete financially, and spend what the Cubs/Red Sox/Yankees/Orioles/Jays/San Fran/Dodgers do....

is the team above and a closer and another set-up guy out of price? Schwarber is probably untouchable...I wonder if the only thing that would get their attention is ..."Yeah...we'll pay fair price for Schwarber AND still take on Heywards contract for the right to do so." I feel you could plea with them that he belongs in the American League, as a specialist catcher for a vet, once through the rotation, and a DH the rest to protect gods gift of the second coming of the Babe, Schwarbaby.

You deal the cost controlled pitcher we got for Eaton, every future pick we got, and you bank it all on the team I set up above.

I think they will never deal Schwarber because he is so charismatic, he has leadership energy.

But Fowler/Span, a RF, a Catcher, a closer, and a bullpen guy

Is a short list to support a core containing a holy shit SS, an MVP type 1B, and a Cy Young caliber pitcher. We could have competed for playoffs well under 100,000,000...and I just wanted to see what Sale/Quintana could do in 7 game series one time, we had like 3 years to get there.

Its hard to grade Abreu when you won't buy that one LF bat to protect him. His MVP season could definetely be lost on the White Sox due to lack of proper protection.

That is a great post and what you outlined is pretty much spot on. THe real issue is Reinny and his failure to spend money intelligently. I last year made a post which similarly outlined what they should do and it is pretty much is in line with your opinions. For the life of me, I do not know what the purpose of Jimmy Williams is. He must be the lemming attached to the hite Sox like Gar is the lemming attached to the Bulls:(

IT is pretty hard for me to anyway support this team anymore because it fails to try to be excellent. It goes back to Reinny. LIke I have said before, thank goodness for Rocky Wirtz and the Blackhawks.

With all of the freeking money that Reinny has and the makings of a GREAT starting pitching staff and top notch offensive and defensive infield, this team was CLOSE to being pretty damn good and the owner shit on the fans once again. **** Reinny. I guess he thinks he is going to take his stash of coin with him:(

That is correct and I've been clamoring for a left handed bat for awhile. It is especially hard to understand since Abreau has a good knowledge of the strike zone yet opposing pitchers have been able on many occasions to get him to chase stuff out of the zone because he was pressing to hit the ball.

The Hank and Raskolnikov,

Not sure how you got the lineups that you wanted for this team. We had no one to trade to acquire the talent. We have very limited resources to get such talent with cash. We have a sub par offense and defense.

Please show otherwise.
Thanks.

If the 7' pitcher we got for Eaton turns out to throw fireballs from his arse, than they did good.

It doesn't look like a firesale, but rather that they moved a malcontent player. I'm still pissed that they emotionally lost the best White Sox and a guy who gave them a hometown discount then. They fucked up either way and haven't been straight with us.

They aren't closer to competing for moving Sale, they just aren't nearly as frightening if they ever make a playoff series. Toothless.

Moving Sale or Eaton shouldn't make a team closer to winning immediately.

White Sox are playing tough. Detroit may slide this year to age finally. Could be a bad team.

Eaton is going full tazmanian devil in Washington. He helps Harper considerably by being a similar flavor guy. Can't grade until Moncado and the giant pitcher play a couple years, but early returns on our guys are what you expect when you trade ballplayers in the peak of their prime.

I'll just say that Washington and Boston are both feeling very good about the deals right now.

Chicago ain't feeling bad at all at this point either.
First Week
Yoan 2 hr, 2sb, 1.114 ops
Kopech 4.1 ip, 10 K
Silverio .450 ob

It's early, but especially with Yoan, very encouraging.

Eaton's 1000 ops at the big leagues is so much more impressive.
