Sorry to hear that. I had a friend who battled ALS for ten years, far longer than the norm. Crappy way to go.

My favorite Mongo story:

Mongo co-hosted the ESPN1000 Bears pregame show with Fred Huebner. Fred was neighbors with my in-laws and they were doing the show from Another Round in Downers Grove. So my father-in-law, one of his buddies and myself went up there to support Fred (plus he put us on the free beer list). My brother-in-law came a bit later, and as he is a Packers fan, showed up wearing a Green Bay hoodie. Of course, in a bar full of Bears fans during the show he caught a lot of shit.

Mongo pulls him aside and says to him, "Don't worry about it baby, most of these idiots forgot that I played for the Packers." Then Mongo asks him if he knows why he signed with Green Bay, and he says, "They offered me the most money. I'd play for the Taliban if they offered me the most."
