I don't know, Grasu is so damn small for a linemen in the NFL. I was hoping he'd get a year or two to gain some weight. And Montgomery was playing fantastic, damn shame he got hurt.

Grasu is a mobile center best suited to an uptempo offense like the Eagles/Packers/Broncos.

I don't want to judge him until I see his ability to double team DT's and his aggression pulling to the edge.

He didn't just snap the ball at Oregon, he was part of opening holes that birthed NFL careers.

I liked this pick. I had him as my favorite center eligible for draft for two years. A third seemed high, but he can justify it with his pulling. I hope we can use him at this level. Smart player, time to get him seasoned. He isn't big, but he is stout and physical, and low.

He isn't Montgomery, he isn't much like him at all. He can run though and he will make a difference in his way.

I would still re-sign Montgomery to a longer contract. I watched Grasu in the pre-season and he got pushed around quite a bit.

Couple quick things:

1 - You don't know how the recovery will go, so if he's good post physical then by all means sign him
2 - Center is a position that takes a while to adjust to the pure power of NFL DTs. Technically he's got talent, but he just needs time in the gym to add some strength. Remember, Olin Kreutz was undersized and needed a year to bulk up before he was starter worthy. That's probably as steady of a center the Bears have ever had, so maybe see if the kid is committed to success enough to put in the time needed.
