I am uniquely talented at accidentally hurting myself in weird ways.
Find a way to make money out of it? Perhaps you should join a circus ;) I kid I kid. I mean, seriously, have you tried sword swallowing yet?

Don't dislike me bro, I'm just kidding. Seriously, I'd never say don't dislike me bro in earnest. I mean you're fully healed right? We can joke yeah? Cause I think the Bears could trade Justin Fields for a bag of chips and a spatula about now. It's the seemingly can swim semen show now. Good alliteration?

I wish I had a cool story like I saved someone from some crazy situation and got hurt in the process but nope, I'm just clumsy AF.

I was a senior in high school in fall 2004 and went to catholic school. We had to wear uniforms and the shirts always had to be tucked in. Well, I got busted for not having my shirt tucked in at the start of my webpage design class. If you got 2 demerits in 1 class, you got an auto-detention the next morning at 7 am and I wasn't doing that.

So I actually tucked my shirt in. My buddy knew I had a demerit and came across a big ass dead spider and stuck it down the back of my shirt while I was doing my classwork. I felt the spider and started flailing around trying to get the damn thing out of my shirt. In that flailing, I accidentally kicked a metal computer desk leg with the front of my foot with such force that I actually bruised my heel with a whiplash effect. Somehow in there, I tore ligaments, hurt my Achilles, and other random damage. That fucking spider was huge and always hated those things. I didn't realize it was dead until afterwards. I didn't actually feel any pain until about 2-3 hours later.
Brutal man. I feel you on the spider thing: I can't stand the bastards. I even hate them as monsters in videogames (and it seems like every computer RPG in gaming history has them). I injured mine when I took a day off of training for the 100m to go with my girlfriend to her company picnic. Pickup volleyball game and some clown came completely under the net (and under me) when I was in the air. I came down on his leg, tore ligaments so bad I was essentially out of competition for the better part of the year (and of course missed the trials). When that healed I tore my hamstring overcompensating because I was favoring the leg with the injured ankle, and that was an end to my sprinting aspirations.

My foot is healed now, thank god. Still hurts every now and then but I figured that's expected given the length of surgery + recovery. My elbows are still fucked from unloading mattresses from semi trucks but I just deal with it.

I do wish I had a money making scheme from this but alas, I have no ideas on it. If I got a nickel from every time I ran into something by accident, I'd be a billionaire. Maybe a "pay me for pain" scheme? I don't know lol.

Yikes, that's awful! I'm assuming you had to have surgery too? Hope you were able to fully recover! It still surprises me how long it takes for ligaments to heal (even with surgery) but yet some of these dudes break bones in their feet and are back in like 5 weeks. Like what the hell man, why couldn't I have gotten that instead? ?

That was in 1988 when I was 21, and honestly, my right ankle is still only roughly 70 percent as strong as my left one. Any imperfection or hole in a field surface and it will turn in a heartbeat, much more easily than my left one. Made training on sand and other things I used to do very precarious even 20 years later.

Truly the most relatable thing I've ever read. That happens to me all the time. Just random walking but slightly imperfect surface and boom, ankle turned and sore for a week. I was taking my dog out last night and stepped on a pine cone in the grass and turned my ankle. I was cursing to myself the entire walk back to my apartment.

Here’s a nugget I read on grade 2 and grade 3 high ankle sprains with torn ligaments requiring surgery…

If an athlete’s injury requires a surgical approach, postoperative care includes: (1) immobilization with no weight bearing permitted for 4 to 6 weeks, (2) introduction of range of motion exercises and resistance training a few days after surgery, (3) progressive weight bearing in a boot and strengthening exercises under close supervision, (4) and lastly, depending on severity of injury, an athlete can return to sport at 10 to 12 weeks.

So at least this type of injury seems to be a lot less serious than an ACL injury or Achilles injury, for example. Cooper Kupp had surgery due to an ankle sprain in week 10 and was never ruled out to return this season. So this injury should not affect Mooney at all going into next season.

How does this injury impact a Mooney contract extension? Any chance this helps Poles extend Mooney on a more team friendly deal?

Definitely get a discount if his ankle is only being held together by his foot skin.

Sounds like my ankle currently.

Do you think he gets extended this year or so they wait till next year?

Sorry to hear about your ankle. They're tricky.

I don't think they extend him at all tbh but definitely not this year if he's only got skin keeping his foot bones held together.
