Absolutely, but silver lining is more snaps for Claypool to build a little chemistry with QB1 to close out a lost season.
I was like oh shit this puts more pressure on Fields. I literally forgot about Claypool as he has not done a lot to make his presence felt lately.

It takes a while before he has digested enough of the offense to be out there for as many snaps as Mooney was.

Mooney's injury may force that snap count higher a little early, but I always assumed Claypool would be seeing WR2 snaps coming out of the bye anyhow.

This may force it to WR1 snaps and, big picture, that is a good thing. Both Mooney & Claypool are going to be looking for their first big contracts at the same time, Poles is probably going to be forced to prioritize one of them.

Which one looks like a big contract receiver and which looks like a role player receiver.

I just heard on 670 the score that Mooney's heel bone is only being held onto the rest of his foot by his skin.
Training staff needs to implement an intensive skin care routine for these guys ASAP. They’re fvkin falling apart out there.

Word.

Especially for a receiver that relies more on speed than being a route technician.

Thoughts & prayers!
I was hoping high ankle sprain and am guessing it's a more severe form or that. Didn't look like the sort of thing that tears an achilles. Also happy it's not his knee or foot.

Reality is unless he signs for cheap, Mooney is not getting a long term deal until he proves he is recovered from injury.

If Claypool closes out the season strong then he can get an extension this offseason.

Mooney is who I had in mind when I said "role player receiver", but do you really think Claypool is going to be showcased enough in a run first offense down the stretch to warrant the extension before the 2023 season begins?

Ideally, I want an upgrade to both and let them battle it out for the WR2 position...winner gets extended.

Not true. What if Fields utilities his check downs more, earns more yards and we get 10 points
And he doesn’t get sacked! I would much rather see him not give up sacks and score 10pts than to see the offense give up more sacks and score 30 points.

Don't know if he will hence why I said he only gets it if he finishes the year strong. No point speculating when the games will be played shortly.

Don't think an upgrade is attainable unless someone surprises. The WR FA class is terrible and the draft class is deep but lacking a can't miss No 1. The reality is if Mooney and Claypool were both in this class I would certainly take Mooney over JSN or any of the other smaller WRs and I would draft Claypool over Quentin Johnson or any of the bigger WRs. There just isn't anyone that really jumps out at your IMO.

First of all....sorry to hear about what u went through.
What I meant is how did u tear the ligament in your foot/ankle in 3 spots ? What happened to u that caused such a
serious painful injury? Maybe we can all learn something.
I wish I had a cool story like I saved someone from some crazy situation and got hurt in the process but nope, I'm just clumsy AF.

I was a senior in high school in fall 2004 and went to catholic school. We had to wear uniforms and the shirts always had to be tucked in. Well, I got busted for not having my shirt tucked in at the start of my webpage design class. If you got 2 demerits in 1 class, you got an auto-detention the next morning at 7 am and I wasn't doing that.

So I actually tucked my shirt in. My buddy knew I had a demerit and came across a big ass dead spider and stuck it down the back of my shirt while I was doing my classwork. I felt the spider and started flailing around trying to get the damn thing out of my shirt. In that flailing, I accidentally kicked a metal computer desk leg with the front of my foot with such force that I actually bruised my heel with a whiplash effect. Somehow in there, I tore ligaments, hurt my Achilles, and other random damage. That fucking spider was huge and always hated those things. I didn't realize it was dead until afterwards. I didn't actually feel any pain until about 2-3 hours later.

So post surgery, I had to get helped to the bathroom. I was so drugged up that I forgot I had just had surgery. So I put my left foot down while getting ready to take a piss and oh my god, it was the single most painful experience of my life. They had given me some morphine post surgery so I didn't feel anything until I took that step.

Pre-surgery, I wasn't even able to stand on my tippy toes for more than half a second. I went 5 years between injury and when I had surgery. I had to visit 10 different doctors because they couldn't see on imaging what was wrong. My surgery was supposed to be a little over an hour and wound up being over 3 hrs. Yuck, the memories.
You need to take better care of yourself. First elbows and now ankles I've heard about.
