GoldenEye definitely. I was so addicted, almost skipped a family trip to Florida when I was younger because I couldn't put the game down

Mr. Johnson, this vulgarity is beneath you, I expect so much more from a gentleman such as yourself.

This is a great question and very hard to answer because there are so many great games and great answers to it.

Most fun single player - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. First game I ever wanted to complete and find everything in. The music and gameplay were fantastic for the time period and there was a great little twist half way through the game where the castle flips upside down on itself and you have to go through it all again.

Most fun Multiplayer - Shadowbane Simply put it was PVP, politics, and world economics all rolled into one. All out server wars for territory, massive alliances between guilds, kill on sight policies. Just amazingly fun. I spent many a night playing to crush.

Didn't play this particular game but it had a sequel or spin off called Jedi Academy which I played and enjoyed a ton.

Yes, Jedi Academy was probably the best followup to Jedi Knight. I quite enjoyed the SP. The MP was well done too. Did you ever join in clans through JA?

Single player: super mario world for the SNES. My friend and I rented a SNES from blockbuster back when that was a thing and rented the game to go with it. We beat the game over a weekend. Then when I finally bought the game and system for myself I spent hours replaying it until I got 100% on it.

Multi-player: NFL Blitz 2000 for the PS1. I had a couple of friends play against each othet in that game into triple overtime once and we still talk about it to this day.

No I never joined a clan. I actually didn't play a ton of online MP, but I do recall it being pretty well done. I recall always being yelled at for "laming" in MP and getting booted from the server. I still don't know what that means or what I did that was considered so lol.

I had to look up "laming", though it sounded familiar... it means you're not allowed to attack a player with your saber if they do not have their saber up. Some people hangout in the rooms to chat and goof around, so they don't want random players killing them when they're not fighting.

It'll even be in the server title/rules sometimes "no laming". A lot of the players that stayed with the Jedi Knight games are the players serious about saber duels. So they expect you to challenge them by igniting your saber in front of them, and they will accept the duel by igniting their saber. Or you can just type a challenge. It's a social custom. I'd guess it's common in MP servers that feature 1v1 melee combat.

Anyone play Runescape back in the day?

There was something oddly fun about that game, especially when people started playing with you who had not played before.

There was this arc of reaction like:

1. Wait u srs play dis game?
2. It takes how long to level a skill?
3. HOLD ON WHEN I DIE I DROP ALL MY STUFF?
4. This game is awful, why are we playing it.
5. BUYING ADDY ARMOR
6. I spent 6 hours yesterday just ranging stuff stuck on the other side of a fence
... a year later
7. Yes I srs play this game, just try it, it grows on you.

Ah...that makes sense now. Back then I had no idea of such a concept being the youngin I was and plus the game mode was just a general FFA so naturally I just went around and killed everything in sight.

So I breached some etiquette I was not aware of, oh well lol

LOl! Totally understandable. I did the same thing a ton of times. When you just want to play the game... it sucks when you go in a server and a bunch of guys are hanging out in there not playing the game. I've gone in a ton of FFA (free for all) servers and started killing everyone. That's the expectation. Usually I'd only get kicked if the dudes didn't want any strangers, and they were just too lazy to password protect the server. Otherwise, if you start killing they type to you to stop it, and join them in climbing around and shooting the breeze... at which point I'd type an apology, a pleasantry and leave.

Best series overall - Witcher series. Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 in particular are the best combined experience I have ever had playing a video game. Almost perfect blend of storytelling, graphics, and game mechanics.

I think the most fun I ever had playing a video game was probably getting stoned and playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater with friends back in highschool. Good times.
