Oh holy shit. What are smoking lately. The other day you noted that you'd would like to see what McClellin has to offer at another new position. As does the coaching staff. I also said that if the coaching staff decides to cut him, I wouldn't think twice about it. I just said I 'd rather keep him around then an undrafted DE or 4th TE. That made me laugh. But are you seriously going to undermine a guy (Ratliff) who was a Bull in the trenches for all for 4 quarters in all 16 games? Well, he only played 11 games last season, which really kind of makes my point. I don't think he's a BAD player, I just don't think he's nearly as good as he used to be and that most people think he will continue to be, and I just don't. I also think his contributions last year on a pretty bad defense are a bit overvalued. I still think he's one of our better D-lineman, but that's not saying much. Then in the same thought try to justify the value of a guy that hurt himself in a sack celebration?Yes, I think Houston will eventually have more of an impact than Ratliff. I don't think hurting yourself in a sack celebration discredits your ability as a football player. You're being a reactionary meatball if you think that just because you do something embarassing somehow you aren't as good at football

You do realize that Ratliff is 32 is playing with more energy than most 26 year olds, especially the 20 something DT/DE's that hurt themselves in a solo sack celebrations. Do keep in mind that on top of this mentioned, along with Ratliff having excellent pass rushing burst & technique for 1 gap systems, one clearly cannot possibly overlook that he has the physique, size/weight of an undersized 3-technique, but has the raw power of a Wilfork type Nose TackleYou sound foolish. No he doesn't & has made a career of collapsing pockets by steamrolling O-linemen greater in size than he is.

IMO, Ratliff is the black Chuck Norris of NFL DT's, & I only wish that he had been acquired a couple of years sooner, say for the 2010 season. Ratliff would have made the 2010 defensive unit a nightmare.

Poppasmurf, you need to stop assuming that the sack celebration injury is the only reason anyone has not to be a fan of Lamarr Houston. I was not alone last year when I thought we were vastly overpaying for a very average grinder type of a lineman who falls short in terms of making plays and rushing the passer.

We can blame all of that on Mel Tucker doe

That's understandable, I guess, but he's being paid commensurate with what he is, a pretty good, versatile, run stuffer. 5-6 mil isn't exactly breaking the bank. OP did refer to the injury though, so that's why I mentioned it.

Lamaar Houston, even without the sack dance, is easetially a highly paid David Bass without the potential.

You don't pay a guy 7 million dollars to get effort pressures and take on blockers.

Overrated: Tough choice but I'd go with Antrelle Rolle. I know safety has sucked for the Bears but at this point in his career he really isn't that good.

Underrated: I'd pick two. Martellus Bennett and Matt Slauson. Bennett is turning into one of the better TE's in the league and ppl only talk about his issues. I just love Slauson and thinks he's a beast and no on talks about him.

Underrated: Cutler. He's played a lot better the last 3 games & the loss to Detroit was not his fault. Hoping the improvement continues.
Overrated: Alshon Jeffrey. Can't stay on the field & has dropped some key passes he should've caught, as has Bennett, who would be my 2nd choice for overrated.

I don't think Alshon is overrated. Everyone's been ripping on him the whole season for missing games, but he's still arguably a top-ten receiver.

I'm actually losing faith in Alshon. And it's not because of his injuries. I don't think he runs hard on every play. I've seen too many plays he looks sluggish or surprised the ball came his way. Not just this season. I've heard defenders say he's lazy at times running his routes and i agree. He has the ability to be a great wr but before i give him a contact that reflects that, i want to see him not drop balls, not hold on run plays, not get offence pi, not be lazy on routes and far more overall consistency.

so an argument with the general manager and subsequent release makes him overrated?

#coolstorybro

you also have a lot of time on your hands.

He played like shit before the argument because of how injury prone he is.

Also, you post twice as much as me soooo

In the did you know that category........ Polar Bears are moving inland to look for food and as a bi-product of that are actually mating with the Grizzly. The offspring look more like the grizzly than the polar bear I believe.
