Kendrick Perkins- Allows Garnett to operate on the perimeter
David Lee- tremendous rebound rate per 48 min

Overrated: Jamal Crawford- Decision making problems
Ben Gordon- Gives up just as much as he scores

Some players can be overrated and underrated by different types of fans.

Look at guys like Kevin Martin and Shawn Marion. Some people think that Martin is underrated, but others think he is overrated because he's a 1-dimensional player- just scores with little defense, passing skills, or other intangibles.

People think Shawn Marion is overrated now, but when do you ever hear his name mentioned anymore? When he was in PHX, people thought this guy was the most shafted player ever for whatever reasons...

Here's one who is definitely overrated: Vince Carter

He is one of the most talented players to ever play in the NBA; but, then again, so are Nate Robinson and Cedric Ceballos.

Carter was always a chucker. He has a great inside game from within 8-15 ft. but he chooses to fall in-love with the long ball (much like Antoine Walker). He was never as good as guys like T-Mac, A.I., and Kobe but people always wanted to put VC's name up there with them, because he was the best dunker of the 3.

Sure, VC had a lot more defense, passing, rebounding, and IQ than pure flashy scorers like J-Rich, RJ, and Desmond Mason... but really... VC was much like Rasheed Wallace in the sense that he always wanted to be in a side-role with a team- never the leader or 1st scoring option.

^the problem with that was that he certainly had the talent, ability, and overall skillset to be all of those things. He just didn't have the willingness, toughness, and heart that guys like Jordan did.

VC could be a GOAT-type of player... but he's not. And it's because he didn't want to be. He just wanted to take long open three pointers and beat whoever was defending him one-on-one.

Overrated: Chris Bosh, because he hasn't won a damn thing of importance. Also has nothing to prove for it.

Underrated: Eric Gordon, he is really starting to develop into one hell of a player. See his contribution to Team USA the last few games.

Gordon is overrated??? Wow! Where have you guys been all of my life...lol.

I think Gordon's fans overrated him quite a bit, but I think the rest of the league knows what it really is. I just find it funny the difference in opinions once bullspodcasters.com was absorbed by chicitysports.com.

As far as underrated, I think West down in Nola might be a bit overlooked.

Overrated? Amare...I still think people ignore his laziness on the defensive end and the fact that he doesn't try to rebound on a routine basis. He can score, but he is very inconsistent in all other areas.

Overrated: Joe Johnson, Rondo, & I have to say this...Dwight Howard. And that one kind of pisses me off. Howard could be unstoppable if he just tried to stop jumping over people and actually learned maybe ONE go-to post move. It's just ridiculous that a player with his size & physical skills can disappear for vast stretches of games on the offensive end.

Underrated: Kevin Love, Eric Gordon, Andrew Bogut

Kevin Love is a good one, superior rebounder...and can shoot threes!

But guys, I have to be honest...this Lebron is overrated stuff is b.s.

Now if you are disappointed in his leadership qualities, that is one thing, but skill wise on the court? Lebron is the best player in basketball...nothing overrated about him...nothing at all...

sigh...what's with the BG hate. a 20 ppg scorer who's clutch, that's a good player.

and you people who say that he's a TO machine, LeBron averages almost double as many TOs as BG. Players who shoot a lot turn over the ball. Do you want the ball out of LeBron's hands? of course not. high usage translates to high stats.

overrated: RAJON RONDO-i think i could be a decent pg next to two hall of famers. he's obviously no all star.

ha! yeah that also.

I was one who never "hated" BG...I liked him as the 6th man off the bench. I thought that was what he excelled it. But he wanted more, and I understand that too. He got what he wanted in money from Detroit and well he should be set for life if he lives within his means and not like Antoine Walker.

I'm sure this is true on any forum...but on PSD the BG vs Hinrich wars..just looking back on it was one of the most ridiculous things ever. Simply put, the guy could put up 20 ppg on any given night. Could also shoot 7% on any given night and was not a good defender. While you could use stats against me to prove that BG was just as good as a starter as off the bench...I just think his offensive explosiveness is best used in a 6th man role.

Haha Fred would say Hinrich is overrated and BG is underrated. I'll say that Hinrich is underrated by Fred and BG is overrated by Fred...and a lot of other people as well. He's good, but not a great player (great shooter, yes).

Overrated: Bosh, Joe Johnson
Underrated: Kevin Love (what the heck? He can hit 3's?)
