Here's one who is definitely overrated: Vince Carter
He is one of the most talented players to ever play in the NBA; but, then again, so are Nate Robinson and Cedric Ceballos.
Carter was always a chucker. He has a great inside game from within 8-15 ft. but he chooses to fall in-love with the long ball (much like Antoine Walker). He was never as good as guys like T-Mac, A.I., and Kobe but people always wanted to put VC's name up there with them, because he was the best dunker of the 3.
Sure, VC had a lot more defense, passing, rebounding, and IQ than pure flashy scorers like J-Rich, RJ, and Desmond Mason... but really... VC was much like Rasheed Wallace in the sense that he always wanted to be in a side-role with a team- never the leader or 1st scoring option.
^the problem with that was that he certainly had the talent, ability, and overall skillset to be all of those things. He just didn't have the willingness, toughness, and heart that guys like Jordan did.
VC could be a GOAT-type of player... but he's not. And it's because he didn't want to be. He just wanted to take long open three pointers and beat whoever was defending him one-on-one.
