Heard it on ESPN Sportscenter radio that Salmons had an MRI on his groin and it confirmed a left sprain (strain?). I can't remember if they said sprain or strain, I think it was sprain.

Anyway, they didn't really give any prognosis for recovery other than that he was sitting out practice today.

Hopefully these next 2 days off and rest would give him enough to heal up and play. or I would just let him rest for this next game as well coz then we have another 2 days off so he will have like a week off before he plays again - should be good enough.

Agreed.

It's important to get Salmons back. More important than to win Saturday's game. So if he's still sore then letting him rest through that game and the 2 days following giving him over a week off gets him back healthy for the final five games you do it.

Damn I wonder how long he'll be out and I think the Bulls need to sign a SF becuase we really can't continue to A.) have Kirk play there and B.) have no back up

Well we just signed Linton Johnson, so to assume we can get a better SF means that we passed on one to get Johnson to begin with (or in other words, we aren't going to get anyone better IMO).

Per KC:

The Bulls returned to the practice court Thursday---kind of.

John Salmons, Kirk Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas and Luol Deng all sat with injuries. Salmons' MRI confirmed a left groin strain. Hinrich is nursing a sprained left ankle. Deng remains out with his stress fracture in his right tibia. And Thomas' injury is unknown.

The Bulls play again Saturday afternoon.

A groin strain, isn't that the same injury that Drew Gooden had? I hope it doesn't linger, because Gooden was out for a while.

Yes, we need someone on a 10-day contract to play a game or two for few minutes to give breather.

The good thing is it's at home and then we have 2 days off again so we can probably play guys like 40 minutes or so and then give the next day off.

How about Scottie Pippen to play 10 minutes for us?

j/k.

Who is there that can help us?

I thought Johnson wasn't picked up again, did we sign him today? I don't care if it's Linton Johnson we just need a SF

I wasn't aware we didn't pick up Johnson again, nevermind then. I'd agree, we need to pick up someone even if it's Linton again.

Yeah I think it was. It's not a good sign at all. We just need to pick up a SF that can fill the void for the next 6 games and don't even think about playing Salmons unless he is 100% in the Reg season. Once the post season starts hopefully you can get something out of him

There's Linton but the guy I want is Ewing JR. Give him a shot. We can't start Kirk and he himself is nursing a ankle sprain. The bad thing is whoever we sign needs to start. Who's all out there? I wouldn't mind picking up Bonzi Wells

I think Gooden had Ab. Strain, he, at first thought it was groin strain but it was not or both maybe?

Salmons had a groin strain earlier in the year, he just reaggravated it again.

Hopefully next 4 days off will be good enough to be ready to play again and yeah, we need Linton Jonnson back.

I thought Drew's injury in Dec/Jan was a groin but maybe is was a Ab.... Regardless we can't force Salmons back too quick. I'd rather rest him until it either feels better or when the playoffs come.

We've had so many injuries this season it's not even funny

If we don't have Salmons the rest of the year, making the playoffs will become difficult.

This sucks. He was playing so well. Hopefully he can get back before the playoffs start, assuming we still make them.

Some good news!!!
John Salmons' strained left groin hasn't affected his sense of humor—or his honesty.

"I was just thinking if I was in Sacramento, this might be it right now," Salmons said, failing to suppress a laugh. "But these games are too important. So I just have to fight through it as best I can."

"I like my chances," Salmons said about appearing in Saturday's matinee against the Nets.

Salmons has tweaked his groin three times this season. He said the first time—back in October training camp with the Kings—was the worst and that this situation is akin to the second time, when he missed one game in December.

"Only real way to heal groins is rest," Salmons said. "We don't have the luxury of that.
Hopefully, with these three days, it can get a little better. Good teams overcome injuries.

This is a big blow to our playoff chances. I bet we sit Salmons Saturday and Monday.
